I'm not sure why the image quality seems so poor. It looks like I took these with a cheap cell phone camera but I used my DSLR, it may be because I'm uploading them from my iPad?

Anyways,
Like I mentioned, the guys did a great job. There were two of them, one guy in the bucket truck, the other on the ground. They were very professional and always kept really good communication. The guy in the trees never made a single cut without making sure the guy on the ground new what he was doing, and likewise, the guy on the ground never cleared away any brush until he made sure the tree guy knew where he was. Every single time either of them would finish a cut, they would habitually hit the chain brake, even if they were only moving over a foot or so. They seemed very safe and really knew what they were doing. I believe the bucket truck was 65', and they said that the tallest pine was right around 100', give or take 5' or so.

I was really impressed with the little mini skidsteer. They never let a "mess" pile up, each time 6 or 7 branches got to the ground, the guy on the ground would grapple up all branches and move them out of the way, it was really fun to sit and watch them work, I kept my distance so I was never in the way, and I sat back in the golf cart enjoying a few beers while watching them work, it really was a fun evening.

They did the whole job for $600. I thought they worked too hard for too little, and I gave them a $50 tip for doing such nice work, despite the fact that they weren't easy to get in touch with, and didn't keep to the schedule originally....but once they showed up, it was well worth it. I'll call them again if I need help with more trees, but I hope I don't have to, it's almost demeaning to sit and watch while I pay someone else to cut a tree down  However, it was certainly the right move in this situation!

They stayed late enough that I couldn't even take pictures it was so dark. I used the lights on the golf cart to shine on the trailer so they could tie down the mini skid steer with a little light.

That grapple on the tracked thing sure looks handy for handling the brush and limbs.

Very professional looking outfit indeed!!! Those tracked mini loaders are expensive, but sure make the job much nicer.

What would you like to know? Are you planning or interested in getting a mill, or looking into having someone mill your trees? Depending on your location, it may be very easy to find someone nearby with a portable sawmill, who will come to your house and mill your trees into whatever lumber you may want/need.

What will your intended uses be for the lumber?

One of these days ill start a thread on milling logs into lumber, I've been meaning to, but I haven't had the time to use the mill lately and get some more pictures.

Golly Piston, I apologize....I went to the "timber to lumber" posting and never got back to this one... I had 3 different timber guys up and all said the same thing.....If I wouldn't give them free rein and let them almost clear cut they weren't interested. The pine trees were about 9" diameter then. Now they're almost 12" but I haven't called the timber guys again, they ticked me off wanting to rape my land. I do NOT need the lumber and have no need for it....I just think it's wasteful to kill a tree and not use the bounty. (kinda like killing game...USE it or don't kill it.) I have taken about 15 smaller trees out to enhance my 40 mile view but I wouldn't mind about 200 trees being taken out. Some day....my friendly realtor says a view is important when I get so old I need to sell....
