Hay spear question?

"My old tractor has a spear that is a pin on type so I can't use it on my new tractor with the SSQA."

Why not? Those connectors slide over the Cat I/II pins and pin in place and they are readily available online. I think I saw them on ebay to name one source. Only problem would be the width. You can always take the SSQA off to use your spear. Comments assuming yours is like the 2016 JD 4052.

Thanks a lot. Any particular reason that you like the 2 spears better?

Double spears are smaller diameter therefore penetrate bale easier plus the double spears can be utilized to carry gates/livestock panels/pallets

Sorry but I should have said, I have a new tractor with a SSQA and I'm not messing around with changing pins every time I need to change loader attachments.
Do you like 1 long spear or 2 long spears?:)

I built my own that slips over the edge of the bucket - a single spear, no "stabilizers". I try to spear the bales just above center so they don't roll or swing too much. If I miss the sweet spot, then they do roll some when I pick them up. Not a big deal.

My bales are 5' long....not today's more common 4'. As A result I like the 1 long main spike and 2 short stabilizers below......TSC was my last purchase and works fine, of that type. Usually I build my own our of scraps sitting around, like old 18 wheeler tractor/truck axles.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I picked up a 2 spear this afternoon and got it unloaded. Hopefully my new M7060 will be here tomorrow and I can see if it fits okay. The guy who's rolling my hay should be here later this week, then I'll get to see how 2 spears work out.
