Pelahatchie MS
picture time. This is a very, very pretty campground, designed to acommodate huge numbers of people who thankfully aren't here right now. Dozens of very nice cabins to rent, and a water park/splash place for little kids that looks really cool on a hot summer day.
Rented a golf cart since I decided to not unhook the car here. Didn't see enough interesting in Jackson MS to warrant unhooking it. So the golf cart let me get around the camp ground and tomorrow I will go stake out a spot by the lake and read a book in the sun for an hour. And then likely back to a/c...ya know it's hot down here....
renting the golf cart for one day cost more than two days of the rv site, which was admittedly pretty cheap per day and took four pages of paperwork and about a dozen initials. They have gazillions of carts here and it must be a money maker. The one guy I chatted with who went out and picked a new cart for me, which was nice, said that people let their four year old kids drive the things, drive them into the lake, do seriously stupid things with them, so I guess the owner had to get the long form made up.
what a beautiful spot for several of those big rigs parked right next to the Pelahatchie lake. Now if I had a tow bar and could unhook easily, that could be me. And if I had a big diesel pusher, and six pies in the sky...
and finally, a score on some Kubota equipment. They were working on the foundation for a small amphitheatre/stage. (how does one use spell check...about time I learned)
btw, finally got out of exclusive JD country as I got into TN and MS. Saw road crews using Massey Ferguson five series, JD five and six series. Did see a large New Holland dealership with six high horsepower new tractors out front, not the CUTs I've been seeing. And several contractors using/pulling Kubotas. Also saw two large Kubota dealers driving not too far from here. Which probably explains the Kubota equipment here. Have also seen a few Dixie Chopper zero turns in the last few campgrounds.
Tomorrow should be a relaxing day. Not going to worry about things that don't work, though I was humming "busted down in Baton Rouge" earlier....
oh, busted up trees courtesy of tornado in 2011, they had a sign put up for it...
