Head West not so young Man

Never used a go pro type device, so I'll have some experimenting to do.

I'd advise reading some reviews of the GoPro. Battery life is pretty low and the amount of HD footage on the card may be more limited than you think. There may be a way to run it off the RV's 12V system. Be sure to experiment before leaving on the trip (as you intend to do).

The lens focal length is fixed at a pretty wide angle so distance shots will be very small (think Mt. Rushmore). You do know that there is no viewfinder either so framing shots is not an option.

Thanks very much. I went with a competitor, the FineView, top rated on Amazon. I have tons of 12V outlets and bought the optional polarizing filter which was recommended for sunny days. Actually I'm going to put it in the Golf and drive around just to see what it looks like, how to aim the thing, as in how wide is wide angle?

I always drive with a digital camera in the arm rest if it's worth stopping for.

Now that's a rather elitist attitude, don't you think? ;)

South Of The Border ~ America’s Favorite Highway Oasis
Anyone who has gone up and down 95 many times in the Carolinas as I have, knows the South of The Border signs all too well. Ok, yes, it's kitschy Americana. It's just that I've seen those signs too many times, not because I'd rather see signs for World Peace or Uncle Goober's Shrimp Fry. Actually I might turn in for the shrimp fry...;)

Pedro says this and Pedro says that and Pedro is apparently who you should listen to...

And South of the Border. Steve <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=349619"/>

I wish I had the money South of the Border pays on billboards. Must be at least several hundred on I-95 alone.

Much of the collection was sold when Holiday Inn??? bought Harrah holdings.

Parts were saved and a new museum built right in downtown Reno along the river.

Well worth the visit if you are in the area.

Often... not crowded at all during the week off season.

Yes; it is not the same as it was in the 70's. Went a couple years ago; it is pretty nice(old Harrah car collection)

I think Leno has the original Harrah collection beat though...

Colorado:
When you come up into colorado thru the 4 corners, there's Mesa Verde (cliff dwellers).
Looks like your next stop is Salida. If you go north from Durango, on the silver dollar highway to montrose, than take rt 50 east to Salida. you will never forget that ride between silverton and ouray if you go that way, Course I would never do it in a motorhome. In Durango, take time to take the durango - silverton railroad. Well worth the views, train used in several movies. If you take 160East from durango, the drive over Wolfcreek pass is awesome.
The drive up 285 is nice. stop in Bailey at the coney island hot dog stand. can't beat their dogs.

Wyoming:
In Cheyenne, visit the old train depot downtown and there's a Big Boy steam engine in a park.

From Cheyenne, I would recommend taking I40 west to rawlins, then go up 287 to the Teton's. Spend some time at Jackson lake. We did a float ride down the snake river which was a blast. I enjoyed jackson lake as much as yellowstone. From there go up to Yellowstone. Take the west side past old faithful, then you can go up to Gardiner. From there I'd go back down into yellowstone, taking the east route down thru camp roosevelt if the weather permits, down to Lake yellowstone, then exit via the east route to Cody Wy. In Cody, visit the Erma, hotel / restaurant built by buffalo bill. From cody go east over the Bighorn mts to Sheridan. Visit little big horn, then unless you really want to go thru ND, I'd recommend I90, visit Devils tower, then Mt rushmore via Rt 16 and custer state park. Sturgis bike week is the first week of Aug.
