Just tuck the cord inside your shirt…
Didn't work for me. The cord stuck to my skin or got stuck between me, the shirt and the seat. When I moved my head, the cord came out of the headphones or the radio.

I have both the Worktunes and a set of ProEar Dimension2 noise cancellation head phones. The ProEars require a separate radio, CD player, etc. Both my wife and I select the Worktunes first by far. One piece of gear instead of 3 (ProEars, cord and radio). One set of batteries instead of two. Where to put the radio or CD player? Where's the cord that goes between the ProEars and the radio. The Worktunes are much simpler.

I am not a fan of active noise cancellation, it can introduce artifacts into the music that were not there.
No offense tillerkiller, but we're talking about listening to music on a tractor or while working outside. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just a note for those of you that have Worktunes. I started using rechargeable NiMH batteries. They have cured the drifting radio station problem that seems to be caused by battery drain when using Alkaline batteries.

I agree with that. In fact giving me any good quality audio equipment is like casting pearls before swine. As long as I can feel my head vibrating I'm happy.

Awww, c'mon on! You don't want to hear the highest highs and feel the lowest lows?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Obviously just kidding! I'm one of those persons who never learned to play a single instrument and couldn't carry a tune if it were strapped to my back. That being a fact, I love and appreciate good music none the less. Now with my high quality noise cancelling headphones on listening to my favorite music inside the cab of my tractor, I can sing away as much as I want, and as loud as I want, and I don't offend anyone; including myself! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Now, doesn't that paint a pretty picture? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

( tillerkiller, we actually agree on the subject. Either I phrased it wrong, or you misinterpreted the part about the "setup together". Yes, I phrased it improperly. What I mean't was that I have not ever tried an actual setup where the radio was built into the headphones/earbuds that sounded good. For example, one single unit that provides the source as well as the sound reproduction. You know, the type where the tuner is in one earphone. Maybe a good one exists, but I have not tried it, and I've wasted plenty on this area. )

Oops, yes, I misunderstood you. There are plenty of options to keep the sound out and the music in if you use a walkman style unit plus head/earphones. I tried the worktunes headphones and they did not work for me. They were too clumsy when you bent over, they were always sliding around on my head and almost falling of which was driving me crazy. (or is it crazier?) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

( Perhaps it is not correct, but I use the word ear buds and in the ear as the same. Both the Shure E2C's and the Sony MDR-NC11's fall out of my ears. That drives me nuts. Even though they come with three different size inserts, the medium size falls out and the large size feels like I have a prybar in my ear. )

Sorry to hear that.... I find the in ear models to by far be more comfortable than any of the over the ear options that are out there. I am useing the small foam insert with mine, no problems whatsoever. (no remarks about 'How can you use the small inserts with a pair of ears like that?) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'm sure you know that you can get custom earmolds made, but that doubles the price. (kind of sad, when we are talking about good money to start with)

( You almost had me excited for a minute. I looked on eBay and thought I saw a pair of the E5's for $250. I was going to buy them for that! Well, that was until I saw that they were used and the bidding was still going. I'm not big on buying something used that goes into my ear. That just doesn't sound good to me. )

ICKY! Keep looking, there are new ones for $367 every so often. (If I remember right)

( To me, the Bose Quiet Comfort 2's sound just like the Stax SRS-2020's I have at home. I'd say that the E5's I'd heard would compare with the Stax. )

Saved for my future reference.

( Okay, I didn't watch the music awards last night. Who is Usher, or is it a group like Pink Floyd, and not a single person? )

He is a Contemporary R&B artist (I think???). I was just using him for reference because his use of in-ear monitors was obvious during his performance when he removed his hat.

I much prefer Pink Floyd ('The Wall' is on my top 5 of all time list) /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Don't turn up your volume during the first minute that you listen to The Wall either, but if you have heard it then you already knew that. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

No offense taken.

But whatever you do, Don't try out any of the head/earphones listed in this thread. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am 100% in the same boat. But I really like to get lost in the music and my earphones let me do that even when I would be wearing ear protection and not hearing _anything_ /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

For all you guys trying to figure out what to do with the wire, I run mine down the back of my shirt. I have a padded fannypack (from Walmart) that is turned around backwards so that it is behind me. I don't snag on anything and my walkman stays out of the way. I have backed into things with it /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, and slapped it around going through tight spaces and such /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, but I have not killed it yet. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mark,

My daughter got me a pair of Peltor Worktunes (am-fm) a couple years ago and I just love them. I keep them right on the seat of my Deere on top of my work gloves under my hat. The first thing do is put my hat on, then my hearing protection (22db), turn on the radio, put on my gloves and climb onto the seat. I don't even start my tractor without wearing them.

Now that I've bought a bulldozer, I REALLY appreciate them. The radio portion has decent reception on am and good on fm. I recommend them highly, especially for the money.

I use the work tunes. I originally got the for tractor work and then started using them when on the lawnmower

The only problem I have had with them is poor reception sometimes due to my location. I have been thinking of buying one of the Ramsey FM transmitter kits and broadcasting my own music while out on the property. Does anyone have any experience with the Ramsey or similar units? How much power would be required to cover a 5-10 acre parcel of land?
