I installed the 80GAL GE GeoSpring in November 2015. The installation was the same as other water heaters except the use of the expansion tank. I installed mine in the mud room because I had a high ambient temperature due to the freezer, extra fridge, dryer, washer and the GEO spring uses that heat to produce hot water, I went from an average temp of 84deg. in that room to about 73deg. I read mostly good reviews except one fault that kept coming up which was a faulty seal on the element. I checked my manufacture date and was past the time frame that the issue was present so I have just been watching it. I also installed a x large drain pain just in case. one note is this unit requires an outside drain line in addition to the drain pan. I can tell you that I have experienced about a $32 reduction on the power bill from the standard water heater to this one. I purchased a 9 year replacement plan from GE for $85 that covers labor and parts. My only complaint is it is a little loud, I have solid core doors and can still hear a slight hum in the living room ( 54 Decibels ) . But I never want for hot water and I keep it in the ECO mode, I have the wife plus my daughter and my son and we still always have water. Another cool feature is when we go away you set the vacation mode and it shuts itself off for whatever the days are you set, It also learns your usage habits and modifies consumption to match. And for power outages I can set it to usage only mode where it acts like an instant water heater.
