I'll jump on with the new diesel heater. I have one heating my 20x20 2 floor cabin, and one heating my 12x24 uninsulated shed. They are pretty much amazing and cheap. I went with an Hcalory brand for both spaces over the Vevor, my buddy has the Vevor and the pulse fuel pump is much much louder and annoying.
The 2 Hcalory units I have are essentially silent aside from the fan and airflow sound.
With the diesel heaters, it is a recommended practice to turn them to full on high heat for 10-15 minutes before shutting down to help burn any soot out of the burner box.
I can run level 2 on both units for about 15 hours on 1/3 of the 2 gallon tank. So around 18-ish hours to a gallon on level 2. I have not needed to run high heat levels yet this year as 38°F has been our lows at night, but I would expect fuel consumption to increase similar to heat levels.
I also did invest in a pair of inexpensive D battery fuel transfer pumps to more easily fuel them up.
In the 20x20 cabin I am using this "fancy version, mounted outside on a shelf I built to window level, and I run only the 3" heat tube in the window through a plywood panel I made. This one, you can just hear the fuel pump if standing within a few feet of it. This has heat settings 1-10.
Then in the 12x24 shed I use this Hcalory unit that is mounted inside and I have the stainless exhaust going out through a marine exhaust bulkhead. The downside to this one is that the burner intake and exhaust come and go from the bottom of the unit, so you need to jack it up on some lumper or find a way to gain clearance under it for the 2 pipes. This one, I can not hear the fuel pump at all. This one has heat settings 1-6.
The second unit also did not come with the 110V to 12V power box, so I ordered it from Hcalory here:
Note that on amazon, you can buy longer exhaust pipes and plenty of other accessories to modify your installation or repair the units. I am real happy so fat this fall with my Hcalory heaters though. We were running old school kerosene heaters and using a CO2 detector, and I was struggling to keep windows open enough to keep readings below 200 PPM and yet keep the place warm. With these heaters being exhausted outside, and the cabin heater mounted outside, I am not getting any readings at all from my air quality monitors. So I feel a lot better about that... you know... the not dyeing thing and all.
