Soundguy, would you recommend going with the lighter weight medium duty one? I'd prefer not have something that the tractor is gonna struggle with. I'm going to be moldboard plowing prior to discing, so I won't be cutting virgin ground with the discs. The only thing I didn't like about the medium duty one is that the rear arms seem really weak, which is why I was thinking the Heavy one might be a better route. Tractor width is 72 inches I believe.

I don't have an equipment trailer currently so I wouldn't be able to do that unfortunately.

Rather than by a small disc I would get a 6' tiller.

Update on tractor width. I was looking at tractor data and it says my wheel base is 75.8 inches, so close to 6.5 ft. It seems like that 6.5 disc won't cover up all my tire tracks. Same with the 6' tiller.

Wheelbase is front to rear axle to axle not side to side.....

Above data is for the three cylinder, gas tractor.

Width of 63.375" is with R1/ag tires supplied on the tractor when new.

You may not have ag tires. Take a tape and measure your outside to outside width.

Mine is a 1970. When relooking at the discs again on their site, it seems as if the 7' really only can cut 6.5', and seems that the 6.5' really cuts 6'.

Is there anywhere you know that I can look to verify the lifting load for my tractor? I've got em holding the larger one for me now but would need to call asap if I need them to change it, and was going to pick it up tomorrow.

I have misplaced a 2000-3000 brochure, but am pretty sure it stated 1700lbs. at the lift balls.

most complaints about lifting problems with 2000-3000 tractors without loaders is not the lifting capability of the 3 point but the front tires lifting, even with calcium in the front tires.

Even though the 2000's hydraulic pump has less gpm than the 3000, i believe the actual lift rating is the same.
My 3000 will lift the heaviest 3 point implements i have ancient Ford HD 6 foot rotary cutter ( MUCH heavier than my Woods Brush Bull ) my 76 inch Gannon box blade (1000 lbs.) and my 85 inch tiller Has to be (1200-1300 lbs.)
Have read other posts where 2000's have been used to move round bales on the 3 point and the front end lift was a problem -not the 3 points lift capability.

All that said- you may be happier with the smaller of the 2 discs if you get into some hard to disc ground

Ford tractors usually have strong 3PH hydraulics. I don't think you would have any issue lifting a 7 foot (860 #) disc with proper front weights but pulling it is a whole other question. I have a heavy duty 8 foot disc and it taxes my 70 HP LS's traction when it is cutting to the axles and in full set.

If you plan to use it just to bust up the turf behind a bottom plow where you will carry a lot of the disk weight with the tractor, a 7 foot might work for you. It would certainly still be beneficial if you decide to upgrade to a larger tractor later.

if you get the heavy one.. load the tires... get front ballast.

I agree. 800# should lift if the lift is in decent repair.

It should be possible to adjust the track width:down to about 63 inches on the rear.
2000 tread width.jpg it may pay to just try it as is though, you may be surprised how good it comes out. Interestingly you can set the track width to almost match the wheelbase.
