For those of you with utility sized tractors (or maybe big compacts) how heavy of a trailer have you tried to haul?

Heavy duty 2" ball mounted to the drawbar, ag tongue and pin setup, or 3-point hitch mount?

Thanks

With my little Kubota BX2200 I move our fold down Viking camping trailer around on my property. It's axle weight is 2020lbs. It has 200lbs of hitch weight. I built a 3-point hitch trailer mount that I use. I am on pretty much level ground though. I wouldn't want to try going down hill with the camper behind me. It might beat me to the bottom. I also try not to make any panic stops. You need to keep the tongue down you know. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I was cutting firewood over the weekend
w/ single axle 12'x6' trailer and piled wood
4'+ hi.
Should be about 8500# w/ weight of trailer.
2 5/16" ball on drawbar for hitch.
The TC35D didn't have any problems but
the cornfields were muddy under the 2" snow
and 2" frozen mud, trailer kept breaking thru.
The HST really worked good.

I moved a 70' long mobile home with my TN65. I used a Cat 2, 3pt drawbar with a 2" ball because I didn't have a drill to drill out the drawbar for a 2 5/16's balls shank (I have since had my friends at the machine shop do that for me so I now have a 2" and 2 5/16" ball on the hitch) Anyways, we had about 1200lbs of ballast in the loader to keep the front end down and had to run the tractor around 2000 rpms to lift the trailer but it did it. We were moving the trailer into position so we could lay up a foundation wall. The original guy who brought it in didn't do squat for lining it up so we got stuck doing it. I hate them things. Well, anyways, I have no clue how heavy that trailer was but I think it was over 500 pounds/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have moved my boat around with my L3710. The boat is 25' on a galvanized trailer. At the truck scales the boat and trailer come in at just shy of 7500 lbs. I only do this to get the boat back into it's parking space. The truck can't manuver as well as the tractor.

I moved a bud's forty foot dry van semi trailer fifty feet with my JCB165HF. I can only lift about fifteen hundred pounds but lifting just enough to keep the rear wheels on the ground I was able to push the trailer to where he could get his semi tractor hooked up to it.

Hey Harv, how are things? Since I know you like skid steers, I thought I might tell you about one I saw over the holidays. The family and I went to Florida, and got to visit my parents. They were having a little landscaping done by a friend of mine from high school who now owns a landscaping business. He now has 7 Bobcats, and he had the newest one with him, a T300 tracked model. Man was that thing slick. He picked up all kinds of stuff, and had tons of neat attachments. He had a tree scoop he had made out of a piece of 24" pipe, as well as buckets, pallet forks, tree boom poles etc. Did all of the work with that one machine (and some laborers). Really made me realize just how versatile those SSL's can really be. Also the thing picked stuff up that looked really heavy without even a hint of strain. I guess having the loader so close to the center of mass really does help in that way. Also my friend said that he doesn't like to drive the non-track models any more since getting a couple of track machines. He said that the difference in the amount of tip and bounce is incredible.

My towing experience is small compared to these guys. I have pulled a 5'x8' trailer full of pond mud weighing 1800lbs or so using my kubota 7500hst. It doesn't have any problem and have made the 1200' trip about 50times.
