No start on my L 3301.

Last started a week or so ago at a job site....did get rained on which made me cringe since it's been a garage queen...

Battery is good ...all fuses at left kick panel are good.

Tractor will start jumping the starter solenoid...

I'm leaning toward ignition switch, or is there a relay or another fuse I need to find??

Thanks for any advice..

I would look at all of the safety interlock switches first. Operate individual switches (pto, hst pedal, brake, clutch, seat) one at a time and try starting. You likely won't have all of these switches, just listing all possible.

I left out that I defeated the seat switch years ago....and after I jump it, the tractor stays running...

But yeah, something is not sending/allowing voltage to the starter solenoid...

So, Manual or HST? Hold the ignition key in the crank position and rock the HST pedal forward and back, slowly... Rock the PTO further backwards (and forward - what you got to loss?)

Clutch has a switch as does the seat - I would disconnect the seat bypass and reset it, see if that helps. All I did to bypass mine was to loop the wires going to the safety switch, over the top of the lever to hold it down all the time!

If none of that works, start tracing back the safety wires...

Not certain how to "reset" the seat switch...but yes, the lever is permanently in the down position...

Took me a minute to figure out why the tractor kept randomly stalling...I was leaning forward when using the loader...

Definitely going to be a spark chasing journey... was hoping someone had experienced it and I'd start there...

With smaller Kubotas (and Deeres) there is often just not quite enough voltage getting thru all the safety switches, etc. to trigger the solenoid. Of course clean and sand every battery cable & start related cable end that you can find. Then suggest you try hooking a battery charger to the battery terminals on the battery. Not because of battery issues but because of voltage drops between the battery and the solenoid. A charger will apply about 13.8 volts while the battery by itself will only supply 12v at best. If it starts this way you know what the issue is. I'm not saying that's the problem, just that you should try that before doing other things.

So, of course, 1st thing that came to mind was battery.....it metered out @ 12.5 volts but we didn't have a load tester.

So we threw a fully charged jump box on it and no joy....

Went to fuses next and checked the only safety switch I know of under the seat...switch under the seat was still rigged in the "run" position, ALL fuses were intact....

Had to buy a new battery for something else, so we threw that battery in to test.....nothing, not even a click which would be indicative of a low battery....

It was then we jumped the starter with the original battery re-installed and she fired instantly. (Could have done that 1st to verify if we had enough juice...oh well)

I inspected the clutch linkage/pedal and no wiring or switch is jumping out @ me.

Hate shotgun trouble shooting.....leaning toward a relay I can't find, or an ignition switch.

Something between the ignition switch and the starter is T/U...

I'll call Messick's tomorrow......they've always been awesome. Years ago, I had an intermittent glow plug light on the dash when running on my last Kubota....they narrowed it down to 2 parts....I bought them both....don't know which one fixed it, but it was fixed....probably $100's cheaper than letting the local dealer mess with it.

If this schematic is correct as you observed there is no safety switch for your clutch, however you do have a PTO, brake and seat switch. I would think any of these could be preventing you from starting.

Do you have power to your dash or headlights when you first turn the key?

Power everywhere else....all lights, including dash lights, glow plug light...etc..

So power is going through the ignition.....have to shoot it to see if it's leaving the switch in the start position to rule that out.

I'm just guessing its one of your safety switches, but a volt/ohm meter will tell you for sure.

Let us know what you find out.
