1979 Kubota B6100D/ 1949 Case VAC
Stumbled across Your site, looking for Help!! I have a B6100D and decided to start the year out right, :) by changing the trans. fluid. Now the 3 point will not lift!! :confused: Any help woul be appreciated. Thank's Again, Steve!!

Welcome to TBN and the first thing to check is the speed adjust/lock valve for the 3PH it is located just below the seat between your legs. Usually a black knob that seems to get bumped at the least convenient time.

Randall, I just ran to the barn and am not seeing a knob ? Steve.

I am not familiar with the model you have but my guess it could be air in the system. Check that the hyd fluid level is correct and then run all hydraulic implements like the FEL if you have one. Drive the tractor forward and reverse a short distance to circulate the fluid. operate the 3PH. Recheck fluid level and recheck level again when all is working properly.

That model may be European.

Anyway, check out this post for details. Especially look at post #8 but be sure to read them all. That may indicate a source of problems.

It still may be air in the system but the indication is that gear oil is supposed to be used in the transmission. You may want to get a manual or refer to one you have.

I checked the post and still confused! I used sae 80-90 like the manual calls for. I did miss the Hydraulic oil filter though. (apparently a screen to clean) The tractor is a '79 and I'm not sure what was in it. (very old and did seem thinner) The FEL does have it's own system and is working fine. Have to drain again to do the filter so, I'm thinking UDT. If the 3PH works on Hydraulics, just makes sense to have Hydraulic fluid?? Steve:confused:

There are only two reservoirs from what I understand. The FEL reservoir uses hydraulic fluid but the transmission uses gear oil and runs the 3PH on it as well. (If it is a manual transmission and not HST as I surmise).

Make sure that you actually have the transmission screen filter. The whole transmission doesn't have to be drained if you can plug the screen's hole in a hurry with a rag or something. Then the trans can be topped off with fresh gear oil after reassembly.

From What I understand there were geared and HST transmissions in the B6100. I could be wrong though.

Yes, it is a manual trasmission. The filter is a screen and bolt that goes through the suction tube . I'm wondering if the sae 80-90 is too thick w/lower temps. (40 F. yesterday/ average) Was working fine before draining and refilling.Will start again after COFFEE!

Just operate the 3PH lever over several minutes for the first attempt at a fix. Hopefully, that will expel the air from the lines and cylinders.

Gentlemen,
:) All is well! A couple of hours ago, I was really cussing The Orange Machine!:mad: The filter is a machined Hollow Bolt that passes through the suction tube. (25 mm) Aprox. 8" long, except the inner 6" is a spring with a very fine screen surrounding it. (Bad Design!!) After pulling the bolt, which I'm sure has never been done (1,100 Hrs.) the tube itself shifted backwards! Finally after 2 hours , managed to shim, block and pry back to position in order not to cross thread.(after pulling rear wheel, should have done 1st) The screen was 98% blocked. (Took pics) Anyhow, 3PH lifts like never before and without the whine @ the top end!! Thanks to everyone with their input and mostly quick response! I found a better Forum!! Steve.:cool:

I have a 79 B7100D and the manual calls for 80w-90 oil. That was changed quite a while ago to UDT.

If you call a dealer they should know that.
