I have installed the new starter and the new voltage regulator. The starter turns when key is not but the bendix is not engaging the flywheel. I have over 12.20 volts at battery. I have at least 12 when the key is turned on without engaging the starter. The strange thing is that I have 12.2 volts at the voltage regulator without the key on at the secondary posts of the regulator. I don't understand why the secondary post starter- voltage regulator - battery are energized with the key off. I have a good ground at the battery to the engine block as well as the voltage regulator. Something else is going on and snow is supposed to be here in 2 days. In the mean time, I have disconnected the battery to voltage regulator secondary until I locate the problem. If anyone knows what further test I can perform or what other component that I have to test, I will gladly explore all options so I can run this tractor. Thank you

The solenoid is charged with over 12volts at the secondary posts when the key is not turned. I went back to test the solenoid wire (Yellow) that connects to the S terminal and there is no current when the key is turned on but not all the way to turn starter. I am going to begin testing the ignition switch and the wires going to the ignition from point of origin to the end point for continuity. Through a process of elimination, I hope to resolve this issue soon.

Good luck. I've offered all the help that's within my capacity.....that may be of use to you...

RJC55, evidently english is not your first language. You need to learn more about basic electricity and use a better translator.

Did you bench test the new starter to see if the bendix worked?

12.2 volts is only 60% charged:

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding . The last time I checked my voltage at the battery before attempting to start it, the battery read 13.73 volts . The starter is brand new and under warranty . When I tested the starter I
I used a set of jumper cables off of My Chevy K2500. The starter turned but the Bendix did not kick out . I have installed and wired my own electric service here and had it inspected and passed. My issue is D/C voltage as it relates to my Case 446. I am going through the process of tracing a Thick red wire with an inline fuse, an orange wire with an inline fuse. Two brown wires, a blue wire, and a yellow wire . I believe that someone definitely ran a bunch of wires and I'm just trying to sort this out so I can get my tractor started. I just graduated from Corning Community College a year ago with an Associates Degree in Business Management with an overall GPA of 3.67 and fully eligible for a scholarship if I choose to pursue my Bachelor's Degree. Besides, I'm only 62 years old. My objective is not criticism or contention, just resolution. Thank you.

This doesn't tell me if it was a bench test, so guess that it was installed.

I would remove the starter and turn the bendix by hand both directions and see what happens and if it feels smooth.

I also had to disassemble the spring and gear because the pictured mounting assembly does not match with the original . The starter works fine

How can it work fine and not crank the engine?

I have to do some trouble shooting with the wires to the solenoid because the starter just spins but doesn't lock out to engage the flywheel.

I guess you mean move out. The solenoid is a heavy duty high amperage switch that applies power to the starter. If it spins the bendix will move out and engage the teeth on the flywheel.

Hang in there, you will get it fixed.
