John Deere JD400 1968
Hi, I am a home owner living in Sweden and have just bought a 1968 JD400 that needs a lot of TLC. My thinking is that a loader with backhoe may come to good use for digging and clearing stumps and big stones. That is, of course, if I can get it running...

I'm used to fixing cars but tractors seem to be a different story, where everything is a lot bigger and heavier. Also, most of my wrenctes are metric so I will have to get some new tools to get started.

US products are not very common in Sweden but my first car was a 1965 Chevy II. I also have a 1938 South Bend 9 lathe and a Toro snowblower.

There seems to be a wealth of knowledge in this forum. Though I'm new to tractors, I hope that I will be able to contribute.

Welcome to TBN. You should be able to get a lot of advice here regarding maintenance and troubleshooting problems with your JD. You'll probably want to make a similar post in the JD subforum and will certainly want to learn to use the search function.

Sorry about the Chevy II. If I recall correctly those were not the greatest example of US engineering or quality. The new Impala, Corvette and Camaro are a big upgrade.

My second car was a Chevy II convertible. Wish I had it now. Welcome to TBN from the state of Virginia. Hope your tractor questions are answered. Ed

Thank you all for your welcome!

txdon, yes it was for sure all yellow originally as in the link. Now some parts are repainted in dark green (not JD green).
