.I would love to consider a John Deere...both neighbors have them and we have talked about the fact that we all have different needs...by purchasing the same model as my neighbor, I would be able to purchase different attachments that would allow us to trade needed implements back and forth as needed.
Purchasing the same model as your neighbor to trade implements is not necessary. What you will need is the same category of 3 point hitch. There are cat 0, 1, 2 and on up. The PTO all turns the same direction and same speed of 540 rpm (when tractor engine is set at PTO speed). There are some larger tractors that have 2 speed PTOs with the second being up around 1000 rpm. You will have to verify that the PTO shaft length is correct for the tractor, but I've not found that to be an issue.
