An "Accident" is nothing more than two acts of complacency colliding.

Exactly! Our country was founded on freedom for the individual. What people have not been taught the last roughly 100 years is that freedom is dependent upon personal responsibility!!!I wouldn't dream of riding a bike without a helmet but I also think it should be optional. The same with seatbelts. I really don't need the government telling me what to do, whether it's a helmet or a light bulb. America never would have been founded if the leaders we have today tried to write the constitution (really don't think they could have found enough paper to even write down all the rights).

The point isn't about the device (Helmet). The question is, "How deep do you let government into your life and make your decisions for you?" You think requiring you wear a helmet when you ride your tractor isn't far away?
Two questions, if helmets are so safe why don't they require them in cars? (44,000 people killed in cars last year - 2/3rd by head injury and if you wear one you will get a ticket)
Second, why do freedom of choice states have a lower death and accident rate than mandated states per 100,000 miles ridden according to the NHTSA?
When you are driving a tractor with two wheels that does not have ROPS or a seatbelt, we can talk about that. The point isn't about the device (Helmet). How many of those 44,000 people had a seat belt on? If you are in a car with a seatbelt on, you are probbaly going to survive an accident. Two questions, if helmets are so safe why don't they require them in cars? Citation needed. Last I heard, in the states that made it optional to wear a helmet, deaths went up significantly.Second, why do freedom of choice states have a lower death and accident rate than mandated states per 100,000 miles ridden according to the NHTSA?
