Nice idea. I have a super bright headlamp I used to use ice fishing. I think I will try it. Has to be better than the clip-on drop light I have now. Thanks for posting.

Even with an auto-darkening helmet, you need light! I do like the clip-on incandescent, though, because I look at the lite bulb, just to check the auto-darkening function. If it doesn't trigger the helmet, your eyes aren't getting flashed.

This made me smile as I remembered the countless times my dad would say (as I was holding a flashlight over his shoulder) "Point the light where I'm looking, not where you're looking". :)
Thanks to helmet lights etc, I rarely get to tell my son that same thing.

My adult son was telling me the other day about the time, long ago, when we replaced an element in a water heater. He said he probably held the flashlight. I'd forgotten about it but it seemed to mean something to him.
