Hello I have two JD400 backhoes one I’ve had for almost 3 years and one I just bought hopefully to make 1 really good machine out of two. Neither Is running, both are having injection pump issues . Firstly I’m having a hard time removing the pumps both are CDC type which I’m learning are the red headed step children in the Deere injection pump family. So far I have all the lines and linkages disconnected as well as the two nuts holding it to the gear housing and I’m figuring out I must have to take off the inspection cover and do something in there . Any advice or direction would be appreciated. After that I’m struggling with the issue of finding someone who can work on it. Does anyone know an outlet that can service this CDC type pump? Next I’m wondering does anyone know about an upgrade or changeover that can be done? I guess Deere offered a kit at one time that’s also discontinued. Is there some kind of workaround for this or do people just scrap the machines when the pumps go bad??! Please any help or advise will be greatly appreciated as well as if anyone has or knows where to get parts to fix or update this tractor.
