Howdy. I have a 2004ish 1433 power shuttle. The fan belt shredded, so I got that replaced, but battery was dead. Charged it up, reinstalled it, except I reversed the cables. (Stupid rookie mistake) Tried to start it with reversed polarity, and that popped a slow blow fuse and the number 5 fuse, which is for the fuel pump and safety switch. Battery wouldn't take a charge, so I purchased a new battery, and new positive cable and ground strap.
Got it all back together and now it keeps popping the number 5 fuse when I turn the key. What is going on? Something stupid simple I hope. I've traced all the wires I could without disassembling the whole dash, and they all seem fine.

You could have blown a diode or other component when your reversed polarity. Not all electronic devices like having power on the ground side. Time to look for a component/wire that is either shorted to ground or drawing too much current. Tedious job...

Pretty much the reply I was expecting. Thank you for confirming that.

if pump wiring easy to get to quick test could be unplugging pump seeing if fuse blows narrows stuff down.

I would isolate the fuel pump from the tractor wiring, and verify that it hasn't failed. It's one of the first things that turn on when you energize the ignition switch.

If it runs, start following the wires, looking for inline fuses and, melted wire shorts.

Splice in a 12 volt sealed beam headlight in place of the fuse. If you have a dead short, the headlight will glow just as normally as can be, but will only draw or "pass" about 3-4 amps, so no wires, switches or other components will be damaged. You also will not be wasting fuses.
Then go around and unhook different components. I might start with the alternator. If (when) the headlight bulb goes out, you are very near your problem.
