I didn't say anything about wind but Wind drift of the spray can be an issue but the vapor is all it takes to injure the Vineyard. How do you control the vapor?

So I guess your saying the vapor will travel a mile and kill the vineyard when sprayed at low volume with 1mph,then dont use 2-4d pretty simple answer,I said I used it on mine and if you had a vineyard next door it would probaly be dead. Use a different chemical, has he even said there was one close by him or you just saying

I was just warning him since I know our area. If he is in an area where there's no vineyards then he is fine but most non grape growers don't realize how harmful 2-4d is to vineyards. The vapor comes as it dries so its very difficult to predict where the vapor will go.

I agree whom ever is using Herbicides should(read the label).I am just not against using them, and really dont see how I could go green and still not have weeds. I dont over spray cause I dont wont to have to pay for more chemical then I need, just enough to get the job done. How would the green guy keep the weeds out on 300ac. and still end up with a good product? Im not pulling them:D

I am old enough to have "farmed green", but not by choice; didn't have herbicides or even hill drop planters. We spent long hard hours with a hoe, bean hook and bare hands; sure don't want to go back to that.

Just try to hire some kid to do that and see what responses you get.

The potato plants are still on the stem sticking out of the ground but withered, and brown. I used to think it was the frost, but then I noticed it before the first frost hit. Maybe somebody knows what's up with this.

The gentleman was just asking for suggestions. Spray? Don't spray? There are many options and when I mentioned 2-4D it was just one of them. Another mentioned Grazon which would work too. He could apply glyphosphate using a weed wiper as another. He could even hire a custom applicator to apply the fertilizer and chemical in one pass.

Honesty, I prefer mechanical methods over chemical but sometimes a little of both are the best. No one thing is the best way for every season and every field.

You might try checking with you local soil district, state university extension office, and check other states' university extension offices on the web.
