G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Open a new thread/question in the YANMAR forum. State what's wrong (won't turn over, nothing happens, runs-then dies, etc...) and your observations/symptoms of the situation (it was running, blue smoke was coming out, etc...). People will be along to assist.

Enjoy the site.

OK so you purchased a 'pig in the poke' and now you want us to bail you out.
First off what is the problems, did the seller not do a demonstration?
Did it,run OK? or were U simply 'sold' on needing it and hoping for the best.
I'm willing to bet you forgot his instructions an starting procedures, probably a simple thing,
I sure hope you did not purchase simply on his word that it ran good.
More info needed,

Welcome to the forum.

Don't worry. It's easy enough to find your way around once you know this place :)

I'm going to move your thread over to our Yanmar section.

I think given descriptions of what you are experiencing, we can talk you through this and soon you'll be up and running. These things are pretty bulletproof and most issues turn out to be a shorted wire etc, nothing drastic.

Longer term if nothing helps, I see you are in Yucaipa. Someplace around there (Apple Valley? Corona?) there is an importer of VN Refurb Yanmars who would have a mechanic competent to work on your unit. Look in Craigslist and you'll see him, he advertises a lot. But I'll bet he just shows you a seat or clutch safety switch, a chafed wire or air in the fuel lines etc, something you could troubleshoot yourself after you have some experience. Don't bother looking for help locally until the group here has talked you through the likely stuff.

And Welcome!

Welcome to TBN! Like California said most things like this are fairly simple to diagnose. Just give a little more information. The members on here are pretty knowledgeable about these tractors. I'm still learning things myself.

I'm sending the police cause if that's all that's wrong with it you stole it.

Will be running in 5 mins.

/ help im lost #13
I agree, you stole it. I should hold the tractor for you until we decide what penalty you should serve lol

A little smoke is a very good sign.

Bleeding the fuel system can be challenging so don't give up.

ok I type like a chicken so bear with me an ill try to tell as best I can the run down on what has happened to the 155d from the start when I bought it I was told that it was running tell it ran out of fuel then they tried with out success to restart it the fuel pump was taken off some wiring was also taken off and maybe some other thing so I bought it and now what I have done to it ok here go's at this point before I spent a lot of money on it I wanted to make sure that the engine even ran oh ya it needed the starter put back on as well so I put new studs in for the starter because they were all stripped out and put the starter back on drained the oil and put new oil in with a new oil filter as well put the fuel pump back on with the shim that came off of it back as well put water in the radiator as well I thought I would trey to start the engine by it self with out the rest of the tractor wiring being hooked up like say bench starting it because if I knew that the engine ran the I'm more willing to put the money in it as a restoration now the fuel filter set up that in my serves manual is also nonexistent ok that is were it stands as of now and I'm sure I have left out at least one or two things that's been done to this pore 155d now do you all thank it still has a shot at coming back to life I wish I knew of some one that could or would do it for me with out spending more then say $500.00 to just getting the engine running and I'm sure the rest of the restoration I'm more then able to handle ok I'm ready for some insight on it all now lol

Your photos show it was well maintained. Probably up until the most recent owner started doing bad things to it. It should be easy to restore it to running condition.

First things first, if he didn't give you the fuel filter assembly then for now get any kind of inline filter that matches the hose sizes. Something intended for a lawn mower or similar motor will be fine if the hose size matches.

Diesel pumps and injectors are reliable and run for years, decades, but this is conditional on never running debris through them. So that filter is critical.

If you are getting black smoke (combustion) or white 'smoke' (vaporized fuel) out the muffler then you are close to running.

Why do so many people put those cheap inline filters on and pull out the OE filter? It catches water in the cup which in lines don't and there not expensive. Like $5 to 7 at a local parts store? I got the ones I have off rockauto for like $3.

But anyway , hope they didn't monkey with that injection pump. These are gravity fed. That pump is very reliable and expensive to fix or rebuild.

$500 will buy you a lot of parts for a tractor that doesn't sound like it really needs anything ? Just bleed the screws till the all flow fuel starting at the side closet to the tank. All 3 screws, including the one on the pump. Try starting it with a good battery, maybe even with jumper cables on your running truck. Use the compression release to increase the speed of motor. Then crack the lines at the injectors if you can't get it to crank without doing that till you see fuel pulse out and then tighten the lines down.

But I am thinking maybe there is something else wrong. Maybe not to stop it from running but just wrong. Why would anyone with any sense start tearing off electrical parts and wiring on this tractor after they ran it out of fuel and could not restart it? The only thing the wiring has to do with it is so you can use the key sitting in the seat, you don't even need the key to start it.?

Couple of questions. Did the rack move freely on the injection pump when you installed it? Did you get the governor linkage fork properly engaged with the rack when you installed the pump? Sending you a pm.
