Well I put the blade back on, and put the bent top link on such that it was shorter, and now I can lift the front of the tractor with the loader and not ground the blade.

I'm learning.... :)

The blade weights 285 pounds acording to the manual. That'll almost give me *500 pounds more weight than today.
I have about that much rear (weight 600 pounds) with the BH on my bx 23 so i don't need any ballist.
Not to be critical, but it sounds like your in a hurry. Slow down and enjoy the ride. Even with your tractor ballast properly you still have to consider how the tractor will react to different ground changes. The faster you go the quicker you have the potential to get in trouble. Again slow down and enjoy your tractor.
Sincerely, Dirt
Whn ever I catch myself wanting to get in a hurry i tell myself hold on a minute this tractor is 10 times faster than I could do it by hand so what's the rush.

Good luck with your 2210 Loved mine and the 2305 . Like the others have said add some fluid in tires or wheel weight . Weight on rear blade or put the ballast box on. and above all keep seat belt on and keep in 4x4 using loader.
Wheel spacers help very much I have spacers on front and rear wheels. Bought mine on Ebay about half of what dealer wanted.

For more lifting height and easier changing from blade to ballast ,even thought you said it was a tight turning now with blade, get a quick hitch from Northern or some of the others selling them for 1/3 of the cost of TSC or JD. Ebay has one listed for $80.00
you can go from blade to ballast box in about 2 min. Saves the back !!!!!!!!

Glad you have the snow . this storm went North of us had all rain again.
Have only plowed snow 2 maybe 3 times this winter.

Thanks for the info on the spacers, and the tip with Northern. I put the blade back on this morning for the first time, and it was more effort than I'd like to do often. When it is grounded in the dirt and I'm standing on ice, I can't move the blade much by hand. So I've been thinking about the quick-hitch.

Can you put chains on the front once you get spacers on? Is there a standard size for spacers, say 1" or something?

We got a little under an inch last night- not enough to do anything about, and it's melting down already today. But it did cover the ice on the driveway and make it a little worse.

My current fear is that I'll put 6-8 hours in pushing back snow berms, then it'll all melt and we'll be done for the year. ;)

Does anyone make a quick-hitch that you can hang suitcase weights on too? I've seen pictures here, but I think that the person welded it up himself.

I'm not yet a welding guru- though maybe it's time to learn... My buddy has three welders and still wants a tig, so I'm not sure I want to get started on a new habit that will siphon funds from my tractor needs.

I put the blade back on and worked an hour on the berms yesterday- huge difference, far, far more stable.
Knowing what I know now I'm pretty ticked at the sales guy- I clearly told him I knew nothing about tractors and was buying the 2210 to move snow berms, and he sold it to me without once mentioning that it had to be ballasted properly BEFORE I could use it safely. I added the blade at the last minute, so he was ready to deliver it in an configuration that was dangerous to a newby like me.

I figure it's his job to sell me stuff that I need, why didn't he mention wheel weights, tire ballasting (which they could have done before delivery) or other options?

Some salesmen just plain SUCK like yours does!

Did you get manuals with your machine? You should have one for the tractor, and one for the loader, all the ballasting requirements are list in them.

My dealer doesn't sell tractors with loaders without loading the tires, and the best JD dealer in these parts won't either. The good news is that if you have jack stands you can take the tires in to be loaded, or ask your dealer if there is someone in your area that will come to your place, and do it if you choose not to try it yourself. Some tire companies have that equipment on a truck. Good luck, and we all are pleased that you care about operating safely!

I would not have bought my tractor if the rear tires were loaded! I told the dealer not to do that as I will be mowing lawns for people and do not want the weight. I have moved snow and ice with no weight at all before I made my weight box and never had a problem. But I am glad I did make the box as it is my weight and tool box and trailer hitch!

Filled tires are sorta like a pair of socks ya can't take off.

I never tried to put chains on front but I'm guessing NO afraid if crosslink would break or side chain would it could cause some serious trouble to steering .
as for spacers I believe my were either 3/4 in or 1 in.
Never seen any other sizes listed

As for weight on quick hitch I guess a hanger of some type could be welded on so they could hang from it I was thinking of just hanging the weight from your top of your rear blade

Good luck
