Help Me Build a Great Welding table

Seems like a nice table. I guess for a welding and fab table it will be awesome. Just don't rose bud the thing to death and it will last forever. I have one similar except I use my rosebud on what I am working on, not on my table top. Build one like this and you will be fine.

Yes, I just use it as a hobbyist.... just want to do it than looking for someone to do it me. And yes, I did stiffined it under. Too much if you look on it . Welded on both sides of the 2"x1/4" angle iron from end to end and without my tractor you can never flip this table and yet is still very easy to wheel in my garage. And each wheels is rated for 1000lbs. or 1200lbs. if I remember correctly. I wanted to put 1" but from what I read on here and for what I will be using it... it just too much for my needs. Plus the original OP have his plate already and just looking for ideas so I gave some... I think :thumbsup:.

Good to go bud, nice job! That will last forever, and dont worry about the weight, you could always weld a pad eye on to it in the center and use your loader to move it, then cut it off. Nice job!!

Why not just put a sling around it, it will be stronger, and you wont have to weld something to the table.

Ughh! Just tryin to say if you have a loader dont worry about the weight. You guys are good, could use you when im arguing with my wife! LOL, alright gotta get back to work, welding a disk back together I ripped apart in the middle of a 30acre field

One suggestion, though. You might want to round the sharp corners a little on the tops or weld a little piece of angle on the corners. Anything to blunt the point. I've been jabbed in the hip or leg more than once by sharp corners.

But far more than that, think of your children or grandchildren. They play and explore and sometimes forget they're in an area that's off limits.
My daughter when she was little just about put her eye out on the corner of a table. She was playing and running around and not paying attention, just as kids always do.
That still gives me the heebie jeebies every time I think about it, and that's been 30 years ago. Ever since then, I try to blunt anything that could cause injury, cause you never know. I also put a can over the sharp end of my blacksmith anvil when I'm not using it.

Quick funny story, guy I was workin with was playing with a pogo stick, he started going backwards a missed the horn on my anvil by an inch or so. I actually felt the pain and my stomach fluttered. Yowza!

I seen a railroad anvil one time that the tip had been cut off with a torch.
I figured it must have stuck someone and he got his revenge. :laughing:

Either that, or the person who made it wasnt very good with a torch.
