Help Me Build a Great Welding table

Well my welding table right now is a angle iron stand I made to hold a bbq, with some re-bar welded on, about 16 inches x 10 inches.... Hopefuly soon I will build a proper welding/cutting table.OK, nobody laugh at my welding table!
Against my better judgment I'll post a few pictures of my table. It's very modest compared to the ones in this thread.
Either that, or the person who made it wasnt very good with a torch.
It wasn't made out of rail. It was a very big anvil being used at a railroad shop years ago.
It looked to be a hundred years old, but was in good shape except for the horn point being cut off with an acetalyne torch.

didnt read past the first page, but use 2" hitch tube for mounts on the top. I have 2/side. Everything mounts to these. From vises to benders and small anvils.
I have 2 shelves , i keep good (useable) scrap on them to ballast the table.
Also look at making a tilt up cutting grate out of steel catwalk. This can mount to your hitch tubes so its removable.
buy the best castors you can find. Cant state this enough. I have some 500 pound (?) chinese castors and they suck. even a piece of slag will stop me from moving my table across the floor.Look at Albion castors.

People who mistreat anvils like that should be beaten with a rubber hose. Any Texan who mistreats an anvil should be tarred, feathered and thrown up into Oklahoma.

I agree. If someone did that in the blacksmith shop I go to often, someone would throw a hammer at them.
Ha! I got you all beat. See those saw horses and old trailer ramps under the Grapple? That's my welding table! ..At least for the moment...
My welding table is the concrete in front of my metal building - guess I win.
I only started welding a couple weeks ago, so it's ok, for now. But my back and knees are quickly telling me to plan on building a table soon.
