HELP ME CHOOSE TC33D OR TC35D?

No FEL?!!

once you have one you'll wonder how you got along without it!

With all the land you have, there must be a need for brush removal, dirt work, Fencing..... a loader is great for all that, if you do buy new... definitly get a loader.

Have you been to Bechard Equipment, there is also a Case Dealer (Case=NH) in ST.Albans, VT, get them in a bidding war, Bechard quoted me 17900 for a TC33D with loader, last fall, loaded tires, delivered, this price may have included rear remotes.

Also, have you looked at the TC30, it has the same engine as the TC33, it can be had in HST, it has the older loader, but if you really have no need for a loader and are really concerned with cost, the TC30 can be had in a gear for around 11500 (or less) and no loader, and if hogging and tilling are the only jobs on your future, you might want to think about getting it with Ag tires, getting stuck with no loader to push yourself out with would not be fun.

I just spoke to the dealer, tc33da hydro,r4's $15700 and a brush hog 72" w/slipper $1495. What do you guys think? also no one mentioned going with a tc35da. is the tc33da the wright choice? i have the credit app sitting on my desk.

If the 35 is not too big for your needs and you have the money, go for it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Men always like bigger. Just remember you are in a larger classification tractor. And if you go up to the larger classification then I would look at the other New Hollands in that classification. From the 35 to the 40 may not have a big difference in price.

How often are you planning on Brush hogging that 15 acres? In my opinion, a 6 foot hog is pushing it for a TC33. You can do it if yu are mowing regularly, or don't mind overlapping your passes a bit when mowing the heavier stuff (but then, why not just use a five footer?) I have a TC 33D and find the 5 foot brush hog to be a good match.

For 15 acres, you might want to look at a TC40... it will handle a 6 foot brush hog easily (and maybe a 7 footer if the weeds don't get too out of control??) If I recall correctly, the TC40 is not all that much more expensive than the TC35. IMO, the 40 is a good match in power for the frame size.

JPN800; When I was looking at tractors, I tried a JD 770 first. It's a nice tractor. Then it dawned on me that I can get NH's on the A plan thru my brother. Went to the NH dealer and looked at a TC33D. That's a nice tractor too. But sitting next to it was a TC35. A whole lot heavier machine. Since one of these centuries I plan on a BH, I figured the 35 would be better suited with the heavier frame. So, I ordered a TC35. With the SSS, 12X12, it seemed to like to grind alot when changing direction more than I cared for. I had that machine for a little over a year and bought a TC35DA to replace it. If I was going to do it again, the only thing I'd do different is get the hoe with it. Some don't like the headlights, it really makes no difference to me, with my looks, I can still pickup the babes! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

At any rate, I'm very happy with this machine. I've used it clearing out trees, leveling land, and tearing out an old sawmill. To be realistic though, it's more than I need down here in the south of Michigan, but it sure shines upnorth, which is what it was bought for in the first place. I'd suggest the 35 if you plan on much dirt work. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There has been a lot of talk on this forum as to the benefits of jumping from the TC35, to the TC40, and most recommend the TC 40 instead, it has the more torque of a 4 cyl, as opposed to the TC35's 3 cyl, which is a bonus with HST....
So, maybe there are too many variables here, but ...

if you want HST, 72" hog, TC40 will do a better job.. with 33.2 PTO horses, in a gear it is 35, now drop down to a
TC35 HST with 29.1 vs. Gear 29.6,
TC33 has HST 26.9 vs gear 28.6

So for if it is only HST your interested in, the jump from 26.9 to 29.1 hmm, not too significant, but jump to 33.2, there's plenty of power for a 6ft hog.
Now in a Geared tractor, which is to say a more cost efficient, and with no loader, most of your mowing will be in a constant gear/RPM any way, The TC33 with 28.9 squeeks in close to the 5 horse per Ft rule, (4.82) and the jump to the TC35 is only .7 horses, doesn't seem too significant.

Any other opinions?
Maybe someone useing a TC33 gear with a 6ft hog could help me out here.....

This weekend I was delivered my new TC40DA w/ a 6' woods brush bull. I have cut about 15 acres on it of pretty overgrown thistle and I was very glad I didn't go with the TC35D I was looking at. The 40 had enough problems and the 35 probably would have been very underpowered. As it was, I was pulling the cutter at about 75% of the throttle in low gear ( I / rabbit, if that makes any sense). Any faster would bog it down and I wanted to be sure not to bog it during the break-in period.
I have attached a picture of the cutting I was doing. It is kind of hard to tell how high the weeds are, but you can see in the background they cover the fence posts. This might not be as thick as you are cutting, but I am very glad I didn't go with the 35, and I perhaps should have gotten the 45.

I/Rabbit tells the transmission range and 75% tells the throttle range. How far down were you pressing the hydro pedal? If it was near maximum, I'm not surprised. The first cut of growth like that takes a lot of power. On repeated cuts, you won't need nearly as much power. The 6' cutter is a good size for your tractor in my opinion.

The next time you mow grass that high you might also consider taking off the FEL. It's a lot of extra unnecessary weight to move around when mowing that might make your job easier. The loader is actually easy on and easy off once you get used to Jim's removal process.

jinman....what would you think is a good size to pull a 6' cutter? Not sure if you were being facetious when you said that you thought it was a good size.

That field looked very thick, I would suspect even with a 5' cutter it would make the tractor grunt. The nice thing about a 6' cutter is that it covers your tracks, if you were using 5' cutter in that field it would not look as nice because of running over the grass before cutting it.
