( IWILL THROW IN MY $0.02. i think a 30 hp should do u fine. but i also would suggest the HST. you really need to try out different types tranys, and different model and name brand tractors. go to the dealers and drive them, sometimes not a matter of which one is best but more a matter of WHICH ONE IS BEST FOR YOU. )
I'll go you one better, try to get dealers to bring different models to your site so you can REALLY see how they operate where you need them. At the very least, try a shuttle shift and and HST at your property. I think you'll quickly see why HST may be your best choice when going up and down hills. Some braking can be necessary if you stop your HST tractor on a steep slope, but for the most part they stop when you stop pressing the pedal.
I think you would find the Kioti CK30 to be just what the DR. ordered. Lots of great features, standard joystick and valve block (often optional on other brands) and plenty strong enough to haul good-sized implements.
Mahindra appears to be quite good also. I've seen them, but not used them, but posters report good results from them. John
