More than a weekend. My narrative sounds like it happened in one workflow. In fact, I was stumped for a couple of days before I came up with the towel method to block the return air vents so I could pressure wash. I tried several wimpy rinses with just a garden hose, monitoring and stopping the rinse before the water overflowed into the return vents, but they just made mouse poo soup.

sounds like you had one heck of a day to get that all dealt with! or was it a weekend over haul?

Spray the cleaned area with a household bleach/ water mix and it will kill any urine smell/odor left by the mice, and I've found that doing that keeps them from coming back... either from not smelling their previous visits or not liking the "clean" smell of bleach.
Had a terrible time with them coming back to a lawn tractor time after time, and once finally cleaning it up with bleach, never another problem.

Found the same "habit" with racoons that found the deck to be a good toilet location. Scrubbed down and used bleach, they stopped.

A followup on my tractor cab mouse problem. This winter I used Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent pouches I got at my John Deere dealer. I put a pouch inside the AC vents on both sides of the cab and also a couple in the general cab area. I refreshed them several times during the winter. This seemed to keep the cab completely free of mice for the whole time.

This is the first thing I've tried that really worked. I'm going to do it again next winter and will post my experience again.

No poison. Not a bad smell. Simple and easy to use. So far, so good.

Another follow up. I used the Fresh Cab again this winter (2016-2017) and had another no-mouse success. Looks like this product really works.

Darned varmints! I had mice nesting in the air cleaner housing of both my Ford Ranger and Ford Fiesta! I repaired the garage door bottom seals. Plugged in some of them sonic pest chasers into the outlets. And set out lots and lots of traps near likely entry points. And I caught lots of mice in those traps. Then found no more nests . :)
