Thank you ScottK (kind stranger on the Internet): I had the exact same issue with the fuel filter assembly emptying and not-refilling. I dropped the filter container three times, filled it and put it back on only to have it drain again upon starting. Did a search online and found your picture of the assembly and knew there was a blockage upstream from the fuel line on the left. Unfortunately I had just filled the tank w/ no way to pump it out so I took a chance: removed the bolt so the fuel filter assembly was free, removed the fuel line, determined nothing was coming through, so I blew into it. Could hear the pop and then bubbles. The fuel started to pour out of the end of the line so I quickly re-assembled it. Runs fine now. Lessons learned: Keep the end of the fuel can and top of gas tank clean to avoid having crud enter the line. Thanks again, saved me a bunch of money and aggravation!
