help on new chain saw purchase

Thanks,,,been doing some web searching,,,can't hardly find pricing on stihls,it seems,,,one place did say they had the ms290,[farm boss for about 330.00,,probably low],,what did you all pay for the pro grade ms361,,seems like thats the smallest in pro grade,,but most importantly,,seems like about what I need,59cc,16-20 inch bar,weighs less than the farm boss,with more cc,[farm boss,56.5 cc]..
Now echo,,found prices on web,,cs-670,at 66.7 cc,16 to 27 inch bar,weighs 13.2 lbs,[same as farm boss],,said they sold them for 469.99,,,,,The echo cs-520,,50.1 cc,16 to 20 inch bar,weighs just 10.5 lbs and says it costs,369.99.
Like I said,,just bought an echo trimmer this summer,,and I'm liking it,,,so I'm leaning toward echo,[if those prices are right,or close to it],,,seems like its about inbetween,,stihl ms361,at 59 cc,16 to 20 inch bar and weighs 12.3 lbs,,don't know the cost,,,,or the echo,cs-520,50.1 cc,16-20 inch bar,,weighing 10.8 lbs,cost,[about 369.00],,,does that stihl,,ms 361 pro grade cost about the same??
One thing I like about brands like echo,,shindawa,,,they just have one brand,,no pro verses home use,,which seems kinda cheap to me,,like,,we got a better one,,[same cc,weight etc,],but its going to cost much more,don't like that thought process.
Now their are many more good brands,,well not many,besides echo and stihl,,but the shindowa dealer is a lot futher than stihl or eccho,,and seems to me like the shindowa,[while maybe the best],,costs even more than stihl,,[maybe best name,but],Husky,don't have service/sales like stihl,eccho,shindowa,,you just gotta find an independant type place to do the work,,nothing wrong with that,,just got tired of doing that with my cheaper ones,he didn't sell it to me,so even though he will work on it,he will tell me I need a good un,so,,,,I have just used up my second poulan in the past 12 years,,good saws for the money,,ready to step up,like I finally did with weedeaters,,wore out 3 or four of the throw aways in past 12 years,of those. I bought a slightly used Stihl 029 Farm Boss on EBay several years ago. It is now called the MS290. It has been an excellent saw. If you maintain it, it will last forever. I've cut 100 cord of firewood with it this season.
If what you are after is a saw to take out for limbing and brush work, then I would not recommend the 290. It has plenty of power, but it is a heavy unit.
Stihl, Husky, Echo, and Jonsered all market excellent saws.

I forgot to mention[according to stihls web page],they have one model above the ms 290,[farmboss],and below the pro? brand ms 361,,,,its the ms 310,,it has more cc than farm boss,but weighs the same,,,[59 cc vs 56.5 cc for farm boss],,,,now the pro? brand,ms 361,,has 59cc also,but weighs less than both,,12.3 lbs,,vs. 13.2 lbs for the other two... so looks like that would be the one of choice,among these three models,,,,except,,,of course price,,,don't know what the other two cost,,,farm boss it was said,is about 350.00,,,don't know what the other two models cost,but I bet at least 100 more???,,,and if thats the case,,that echo model,cs-670,at 66.7 cc,which weighs,[by the way],just 13.2 lbs also at about 470 dollars,,looks mighty appealling,,,,IF,,that is about what IT costs?? thingy
O.K.,,just got a price off internet second company for echos,,the cs- 670 is 470 dollars,,this will of course be a little different at my dealer [he will I'm sure have to order it,too],,My local stihl dealer,sells a little more,so he might have his instock,,and the choices there would be the ms-310,or ms-361,all three would be more than I really need,but,better to have more than less,,,so next step,is drive up and talk,,figure about 500,,,basicly which ever one of those three are cheaper,,course you would get a few more cc with the eccho,,and also,,I'm doubting if those two stihls are within the 500,,,,,

I have a 26 pro and a 36 pro.
Rough,,o26 and 036 pro,,according to stihls page,,the pros start at a number call ms361,,,[that must be the 036???],,I guess these numbers have changed some? In any case,,what do you think of that 036? Wonder what a new one would cost? Do you know anything about those echo saws? thingy

My 026 is an older model. I love the 36,I thought the 026 was the best thing since sliced bread until I picked up the 36...WOW. The price would be ( I think) a little over $500.

Richard, based on your posts about how good the low priced Chinese tractors are, and how they are just as good as any of the brand name machines, I'm really surprised you are looking at brand name chain saws. Why not just get a Chinese chain saw and save 50% of the price?
