( Well, just cause I didn't have anything else to do,,,checked the gap on plug of brand new echo,,it was .026",,,just what the book calls for,,,,like I said,,gapping plug different then that of books specs, and thus manufactor specs,,doesn't seem like anyway to accomplish any thing other than make it run worse,,,,I wouldn't trust whoever does this,,,,although,,,I don't trust anybody,,,as far as breaking them in,,,yeah,,it might not be the best to start cutting timber,,,and keep cutting timber for 6-8 hrs straight,,,but then again,,,I was always told to break them in,,like you run them,,,so,other than maybe just running it for an hour or so,,the first couple times,,,don't see any need to break a two cycle in,,thingy )

I share the exact same sentiment,When I pick up a new saw its going to be ran like I have been using it every day for a year....all or none.....

They must be tough. On my 039, all I ever do is put in bar oil, keep a sharp chain, add pre-mix gas, and run the #*$( out of it! I've used it for years and have likely cut over 100 heaping loads full of wood to fill my 1 ton truck, and I've never had a single issue with it. I've never even changed the original plug! If it blew up now, I'd go buy another one and not think twice. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Of all my equipment, it probably gets used and abused the most. Obviously, I'm sold on the Stihl 039!

I really like my Stihl 044 with 32" bar and 3/8" chain for my heavy duty work although sometimes I use my 372 Husky with a 28" bar.

Having a chain breaker and riveter is also nice.

For all around lite duty work though my 20 year old Stihl 026 with 20" bar and .325 chain does the job, along with my newer 028 Stihl and 350 Husky. The 30-ton 5" hydraulic log splitter just never seems to get its fill......

BTW, they all had 0.025" spark plug gap, which I reduced to 0.020 after about ten tanks of 100% nonsmoking 50:1 Amsoil Synthetic 2-stroke oil.

That Amsoil Synthetic 2-stroke is absolutely amazing, no smoke and the smell reminds me of the castor oil in my 1968 250cc Bultaco Pursang motocrosser, simply dynomite!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
