Ok have bx-23 fel mmm BH 15 hrs total, Took BH off last fall to use rear blade. Finally thought to check tran/hyd level. Yikes nothing on stick dump 1 qt sudt did have and drove 10 min and then parked week. cleaned stick looked down fill hole can't see nothing. Dump 3/4 GAl SUDT and letting sit but still can't see level in hole and stick is dry. Ok I suspect some oil is in BH to keep stab arms out bucket support Yadda but a Gallon? out of less than 3 in whole unit. Yes I can keep dumping in till see but what happens when put BH on and cly raised pushing fluid into tractor. Yes trac is level FEL is down 3pt is down and no leaks other than 1/3 teaspoon on unconnected BH. ASS U ME ed full from fact/dealer check . Everything works/ed normally in use but pto doesn't gring going front both rear and 4wd selector works better.

Thanx

1st time I checked my fluids with the BH & FEL off I couldn't see any fluid either. I added about a quart and got a reading. When I remounted the BH & FEL and took a reading it was well over the top mark. I ran it that way until I did the 50 hr service.

When I did the 50 hr, I filled to about half way between the low & high marks with the BH & FEL dismounted.
I took another reading with the BH & FEL mounted and it read just a hair above the top mark.
This is where I've kept it since I have the BH & FEL dismounted much more than mounted and I want to make sure I'm above the low mark when they're dismounted.
According to the WSM the level is acceptable anywhere between the two marks. As long as it is above the lower mark it's with specs.
The reason I don't worry about it being slightly overful when in the BH & FEL is mounted is because the hydraulic system is vented and being such it is highly unlikely that the additional fluid will raise the pressure up enough to blow any seals since it will vent well before that.

Hi Volfandt

I just want to make sure of 1 ? your dip stick for the hyd/trans is only like 2-3 inches long not like a car and close to 1.5 ft long just to left of redish fill plug about 8-10 about rear PTO The reason I am asking is that in first week due to paranioa about theft always lifted unit up in air with BH/Bucket and put every operational lever in use. Of course I forgot to reset 3pt up down and could not get bh stabs to lower and bucket was jerky. called salesman who thought was fluid low so not seeing dip stick 3 inches Painted gray) away from plug looked down it and couldn't see nothing. He implied stick was like a car so normal not to see. after his sug to check 3pt all was well. Of course this was all before got a manual (with all the pages)

So you are saying a qt brought you up from low to full I am more like a gallon and no end in sight

Thanx again

My HST dipstick is about 4" long and is to the left of the red fill cap. It has a low and high mark.

My guess is that your BX was delivered low, like mine was, but yours appears to have been much lower. Theres been other posters here that had the same situation. I'm not trying to play it down at all, only point out that others have had experienced low fluid levels with their new tractors.

Theres two other places you should check. The front axle is probably low and the spindles on your MMM probably don't have enough grease in them also.

I believe it's been determined in past threads that these areas are the responsibilities of the dealer. Part of setting up the unit.

I'm not sure how much hydro fluid a dismounted FEL & BH hold but I guesstimate around a quart or less.

Now that you've got the fluid level up to where it should be, monitor it and check it after each use to see if you are in fact losing any fluid. You'll loose a drop or two everytime you dismount the FEL and/or BH but it'll be neglegable.

I've over 100 hrs since I changed the hydro fluid and filter for my 50 hr service and haven't had to add a drop.

Good luck

Thanx again Volfandt:

After the rear end problem I did check the front axle and it was a tiny amount above level. Grease on MMM might explain the slight squeal I hear on start of deck will grease in AM but so far max use of 5hrs so hope not much damage done. Guess will dump SUDT in till I can at least see something in fill hole Its got to be better than what I got Guess instead of gallon need to buy by barrel!

Any other tips come to your mind on what to check for? I guess I was a dumb **** to think I could use for 10-15 hrs when brand new with no problems know about air filter braket breaking so will look into hose clamp or something else to head off.

minor draw back is to many posts to just go back thru even with search you miss 2 much plus it did not help that I didn't find this and compact trac site till about 1.5 months ago and I had been dreamin about a comp K trac in bx22 days did they make a 21? I did help my buds dad on farm for few years but dad died 10 yrs ago and newest stuff he had was early 60's hay baler used m n and fordston? from WW2 days so nothing is close 2 today and mostly I was just da gofer with hay wagon/grunt work so didn't learn much other than like programming better than hot day in sun in Iowa july!
