Its hard to criticize the BX series Kubotas. They are nice and light, so they are great on the lawn. The light weight will also be an asset on the beach. My sales manager used to own a company that made dune buggies, he and I got into a discussion a while back about tractors on the sand and he convinced me that light weight with turf tires is the right answer for dealing with sand. There was actually a thread last fall where a guy was buying a tractor for use on sand and when it all boild down, he got a light tractor with high (relative) horsepower and big fat turf tires. Now all that said, I think the JD 2210 is also going to be in the same weight category as the BX series Kubota.
It sounds like the JD is your choice but you have nagging questions about the Kubota because it has a great reputation. I'd suggest that you won't go wrong with either machine and you'd be happy with either. That said, eliminate the Massey because of the little voice in your head that makes you worry. Then take a test drive on both the JD and the Kubota and let your gut tell you which would be better for you.
