Black and White Umbrella - Check
Blue Cups - Check
Little Baggies - Check
Tangle Foot - Check
Christmas Tree rotating stand - Somewhere in my Storage Shed
Velcro straps to attach to Kioti roof - Check
Boom Box playing a Loop of "Singing in the Rain" - should be able to download it off the internet somewhere
Camera - Ain't gonna happen....

Hope it works and hope the neighbors don't think I've spent too much time playing on the tractor - but it sounds like it's worth trying..

Then I hit the interwebz and found the bright blue + tanglefoot idea. It is amazing how well it works! It's definitely a little annoying to wear a ball cap with a blue solo cup tied to the top, but it keeps me at near-zero biting levels and catches 40+ flies every time I head out there. It makes it possible to enjoy the outdoors and get some work done, and that is just terrific.

.

Need some demonstration pictures to be sure we all understand how to do this.

It sure seems like this is a great April fools joke to play on someone... "Go ahead, wear this blue cup in your head and it will keep those flies from biting you" ;-). Also, if you want there are some snipe behind the barn we catch those with this bait net over here...

To attract Snipe, one must wear a red cup :umbrella-guy: My Tanglefoot was delivered this afternoon. Wifey refused to stick her finger in it to confirm it's sticky. :D

But of course. Didn't have any pics with me when I posted that. So here are some pics of the hat setup (just two twist ties fed through holes poked in both the hat and the cup, tied down inside the cup side to not poke my head). And an example catch after working outdoors for an evening.

That's good to hear. Don't ever do that, you'll be sorry you did. :)

So here are some pics of the hat setup

Think I'll try the Umbrellagirl method but using a cap instead of an umbrella. Attach the top of a cup to the hat with 4 twist ties. Use that cup as an anchor then put another cup (inside a plastic bag) on top of the anchor cup. That way it should be easier and less messy to reload without undoing the twist ties? :confused3:

^ yeah, that should work. I have been snipping the twist ties off inside the hat and tossing them out with the cup.

I think I need to flip the cup over and coat the entire exterior, though. I was only coating the interior and the lip, in an effort to keep things cleaner. But I could be catching MORE FLIES!
