Well, i guess i spoke too soon. Kinda got it, now it works half the time and i am again troubleshooting the problem. Adjusting the adjuster and working the safety vavle and trying some stuff. I used the John Deere hydraulic fluid and mixed it with valvoline hydraulic fluid from NAPA autoparts, i hope this was the right stuff. Maybe mixing it was a bad idea, The guy behind the counter at NAPA said it was but there is no numbers on the jugs. What kind of hydraulic fluid is recomended for these tractors. Could it be the wrong stuff or too light or heavy. I will tear the system apart in a few days hopefully to find any issues.
Thanks

Alana,

Do you have a front loader? Does the steering feel fine? When you are in the up position on your 3 point control try lowering the front loader at the same time. Does the 3 point come up? The 2" knob between your legs slows down the fall rate of the 3 point. Filter? Have you checked it/changed it?

Or next option is mung in the diverter valve.

All of my issues have been to lack of fluid to the main pump. ie. Filter.

What RPM are running at? I have to hit about 1000 when my fluid is cold for the 3 point to work. I run AW32 Hyd fluid. Once warm it is better, at idle it will raise. Enough fluid must reach the diverter to then go the the 3 point.

On mine the loader always works as it is in line before the diverter and 3 point.

Yes i have a front loader, filter is clean, the loader gets kinda jerky from time to time going up and i tried moving the loader and the 3 point at the same time. It's weird, the 3 point works 50% of the time. I will check the internals in a few days for gunk and bad seals and stuff. The diversion valve i am still unsure what that is and where its located. maybe it is on the divider block on the hand control for the loader. It does not have power steering unfortunatly. YukonKing says AW 32, i will see if thats available here in town.
Thanks again for your help, keep it coming if you want. I love this little tractor project, its a cool rig to play/work with.

If there were "no numbers" on the container, odds are good that it's the wrong stuff. I think we pretty much established in your other thread that you want AW32 (or ISO32) hydraulic fluid. Nothing else. If it don't say AW32 or ISO32 on the container, it ain't the right stuff. AW32 is about 10 weight. If you live in a climate that's warm year round, you could go up a step to AW46/ISO46 - which is just barely 20 weight. Next step up is AW64/ISO64, at just under 30 weight. I use my tractor in all weather and all conditions, so I stick with AW32 year round.

If you don't have power steering, you shouldn't have a diverter valve - its purpose is to divert hydraulic flow to the steering whenever it is needed. No PS, no need for hydraulic pressure there, right? Thus, I would say that all your pump is doing is running to the loader valve and then to the TPH, or the reverse order. Mixed oils means you have no idea what you really have and that is not good.

AW32 hydraulic fluid is probably what you should be running. I'm in the (mostly) temperate tropics and I run AW32 or UTF with no problems at all, no matter how hard I work things. I'd suggest draining the hydraulic fluid completely, then flushing the system with some kerosene for a few minutes of operation of the controls. Then drain out all the kero and pull the filter and take the top off the hydraulic sump so you can get at the pickup screen. Once you're sure the screen isn't clogged with debris and the sump is free of crud, then install a new filter, button things up and fill it with AW32 hydraulic fluid.

Best of luck with it.

Rich

Had to do a little diggin' through your old posts, but it appears you're in the Pacific Northwest. In that case, definitely stick with AW32/ISO32 hydraulic fluid. It will be much thinner than whatever that duke's mixture is you have in there now. And don't forget the suction screen inside the sump. Odds are good it needs at least a good cleaning, perhaps even outright replacement.

It would help us help you more quickly, if you'd flesh out your profile.

Yeah Greg, Whatcom County area, northwest Washington it gets flippin cold up here. Today was 28 degrees at 4 am. Summer gets as high as about 85 but that probably wont be a problem. AW32 is what i will use.

I am up in Port Angeles and have been running AW-32 in mine for years without any problem.

Sounds like AW-32 is the stuff. Now if i could just figure out how to get rid of some of my older posts to shorten up this thread. Any ideas?
