Cool. no clutch, just idle it, ease it in, throttle up and go. Got it and thanks for the valuable info.

Thanx for the tip!

No class III clutch...that means you could actually use your brakes to steer. Life must be good on the high end /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

See this post.

Seems like some of the recommendations here are pretty extreme, raising wheels, touching brakes, turning wheels, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Many of us have had great success moving the tractor out of 4wd simply by reducing the load on the drivetrain while moving. We typically do this when moving forward, letting off of the forward hydro pedal while at the same time shifting back to 2wd. If it doesn't work the first time, try with a little more forward speed and/or a more rapid release of the forward pedal. The idea is to reduce the load on the drivetrain/gears, so the gear mechanism can slip easily. Usually I do this when I've completed the job which required the 4wd and when I'm moving on to the next that doesn't.

If a dealer sells you a tractor and doesen't furnish an operator's manual I would think it might relate to a liability issue for the dealer....... Not a good practice.

There's lots of important information in the correct manual. Tell the dealer to put on his white hat, do the right thing, and get you the manual that applies to your tractor. Used tractor or not, this it the least they should do for such a significant purchase.

<font color="blue">djradz (would be nice to have a real name to use here <smile>),

You're absolutely right... and made me look at the manual I got with my used TC35D again, and sure enough, it's a TC35, not a TC35D, and it's WAY different... so in order to use the new grease gun I'm getting from Harbor Freight (among several million dollars of other stuff <grin>), I need to know where all the lube points are!

So I called 'Tractor Jon' and he's sending me one, along with some other things I needed, like the little conical springs in the bottom of the driver's seat... one broke and the other's bent... so replacing them...

Having a good dealer that you can talk to after the sale and he listens and is willing to work with you... means a LOT...

Stoney, click on the "username" and you will find out that his name is Duane. You'll also find out his last name...unlike someone you know very well. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

"....When you have and implement attached and start to engage your PTO, don't just push the handle up to engage, because you will probably pop a shearpin if you do that. That TC40 has "tons" of torque......"
That's exactly what happened to me today when I was in the middle of mowing in the woods. I lost one pin. I looked for it all over and it's nowhere to be found.
Thanks for the excellent info. I have also experienced problem in shifting out the four wheel drive.
Other than the fuel economy, is there any reason why one should not leave it in the 4 wheel drive all the time?

It's all good now. Got it out easily jimmying the pedals and the dealer got the manual to me as well.
