About how much fuel should I be getting from the lines when cranking the engine? I disconnected the fittings at the injectors and cranked it at full throttle. I'm getting about equal spurts from both lines. Thanks! ---------John

Look for my thread on the injection pump. I believe somebody mentioned a volume.

Ok, finally got time to work on tractor. Bought a diesel compression tester and checked compression. Only got just over 100 PSI on both cylinders! Wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Both injectors installed, with fuel lines unhooked. Tester in one glow plug hole, the other one out. They are both equal in pressure, but way low. Should be 455 PSI, according to manual. I'm charging battery, and running the test again. I seem to remember something about putting oil in the cylinders to help determine if the rings are bad, but that was for gas engines. The thing that bothers me the most, is that it ran when I brought it home! I hate to take it to a repair place, but I really need this thing running! -------John

Seems odd. I'd go back and do it again a few times start to finish to see if you duplicate results. I plan to retest mine since I only did it once. I believe this engine is tested without adding oil. My tester specifically said test dry I think.

Hi everybody, long time, no type! Just wanted to give an update on my tractor. I finally ran out of time to mess with it, so I found a guy to work on it for me. Turns out the pistons were burnt, and the rings broken. Also, the guy I got it from had packed the crankcase with grease. I bought new pistons, rings, and head gasket. Close to $700 for the parts. My guy put it back together, and the starter was dragging. He took it apart, and the armature was worn, and egged out the snout so it was dragging pretty bad on one side. I machined the armature, and made a bronze bushing to line it back up. Since it was winter by then, I told him no hurry and to finish it when he had time. He got swamped with snow blowers, and winter toys. About a week ago, I was cruising ebay, and found a 4wd S370 the guy was going to part out. He had a tiller, so I asked him about it and why he was parting out the tractor. Nothing wrong with tractor, just nobody interested in it. Gave me a great price on tractor, tiller, and a front blade. Drove to New York from Ohio last Saturday, and brought it home. Runs great, and starts when I turn the key!! I'm putting the loader from my original on it, and going to start on the backhoe. When I get the 2wd back, I'll just use it to till, or mow. Got too much in it to sell probably! I really appreciate all the help from everyone here, and I've learned quite a bit from everyone!I'll post pictures, and progress as I build the hoe. Thanks again for all the help, and information!----------------- John :drink:

I brought home the original Beaver today!!!! Starts, and runs great! Also had to put in a new starter. Didn't go as easy as everyone said......I got the Dodge Colt starter, and had to remove heli-coils, change pinion gear,(8 to 9 tooth), grind nut area to clear nuts! My original starter is .300 bigger in diameter than the Colt starter, so I couldn't just change out the snout as was suggested. I swapped the rear tires between the two - AG tires on the 4wd, and turfs on the 2wd. AG's are loaded, so it was fun to say the least! IMG_0771[1].jpg
