Greetings, I would like to know if any of you might have a phone number or a email address of someone at Tractor Supply that might help cancel an order. Here is the story. I bought a 4ft. KKII tiller and decided to purchase on the the Speedo Quick Hitch. I placed the order after much investigation on this forum, but I did not measure the box blade I have. Big mistake. Ain't no way the Quick hitch will fit. The order had not shipped so I called the 800 customer service number to have the order cancelled and stop the transaction. I talked to a young gentleman and was told that there is a 1 hour period after the placement of the order that the order can be cancelled. To make sure that I understood, I got the gentleman to repeat the shipping procedure. Now the order was waiting to be filled and then to be shipped. I told him I did not want the item since it would not fit and I was told to not accept the delivery. Now my UPS guy just leaves the packages at the door. So I asked the Tractor Supply guy to mark the delivery with a signature required. So TSC is going to ship the item knowing that it is going to be returned. I find it hard to understand that a company as large as TSC cannot , with a key stroke, stop the filling of an order that is going to cost them money to ship an item to south Texas and then back. If anyone has a number or a email address that might help me, send it along. I have already ordered a Pat's Easy Change System. TSC will not refund to my credit card until the item is returned to their distribution center. Thanks, Morpheus

Well I just got the notification that my unwanted item has been shipped. Shipped on New Year day, strange. So I guess I will play the game and TSC will be the looser. I found out about a dispute with the Credit Card Company. I was told that the a charge cannot be removed or disputed until the next billing cycle. I was hoping to have the shipment stopped and a refund to my credit card so I would not have to explain to the wife this screw up. No such luck. Morpheus

You should NOT have any payments or interest on a disputed charge.

There may be several explanation for why the shipment could not be stopped. TSC could use a fulfillment house to ship orders or they could have the manufacturer drop ship for them. It is quite odd that TSC could change delivery requirements and not be able to cancel the order.
As for not crediting your CC back until the shipment is returned, this is standard operating procedure with most mail order companies. To start charge back (Credit Card dispute) procedure without tracking the package back to TSC and giving them time to process the order back into inventory is not a good idea. No company wants to lose customers but there are always limits as to what can be accomplished.

I am not going to dispute the credit card charge. I will let the process run it's course. I am not worried that the charge will be refunded by TSC. I was just wondering why a company could not stop an order that had not been shipped. Oh well I will just play the game. I was just trying to save TSC shipping charges and to get my refund on the credit card refunded quickly. Not a hugh problem, but it is just amazing that an order MUST be sent and returned and no one can stop it. Every charge on the credit card is run through and paid for. The card company said that it gives the merchant 30 days to get the merchandise to you. This stops people from cancelling an order just because they decided they didn't want the item. In the first 30 days it is sort of between you and the merchant to make things right. After 30 days, you can dispute the charge and with proper documentation that the item has been returned, the card will be credited. It is a hassle and I have had to do this twice. Usually the threat of a dispute will get the merchant to play nice. Morpheus.

You may end up having to file a claim with your cc company. Most companies usually don't refund the shipping cost of an item that was shipped and returned, and some want to charge a restocking fee. If you have the name of the person you talked to and can prove the date & time you canceled the order was before the order shipped you may get a 100% refund. More than likely, the burden is going to be on you to prove it.

You will almost certainly be charged shipping, probably both ways.
I had a similar issue with Northern Tool (formerly Northern Hydraulics) last year.
After MANY e-mail exchanges (mostly automatically generated form letters from them) about charges and credits, I eventually got the shipping charges refunded.

NASTY business, now they're on my e-mail blocked sender list, but I'm still on their spam list, so they get automated replies from my server saying that I don't want their spam (-:

Just keep at it, keep telling them, "Not good enough, I canceled, I want ALL the money back"

I feel for you. Some companies are just 'stupid' in spite of themselves.

I needed to buy an upgrade computer power supply. I have a circuit city and a staples in a shopping plaza down the road.. they are litterally 50 yds apart. I check both stores and they both carry the same brand replacement supplies. Since I know there can be a 22/24 pin power supply, and the boxes do not say what they are, I asked CC ( since I was in there ) if the manager or salesman could open the box and let me see the connector.. and if it was correct , I'd buy it. Nope.. no way.. no how. I was told I had to buy it, then open it, and if not correct, return it. I told them that was a pretty stupid policy and walke dout.. straight over to staples. ran that same story by the sales guy. he whips a pocket knife out of has pocket and in 30 seconds I determine it IS the supply I needed. Staples got the sale.. plus about another 50 $ worth of impulse items that the wife grabbed before we left.

sometimes I wonder how companies make up rules. Must be a big rotating wheel on the wall and they throw darts at it..

good luck.

I'm becoming pretty disenchanted with Tractor Supply. They seem to be very poorly run in my opinion. Case in point- I routinely stop in at about 5 different ones looking for bargains. Awhile back I was rounding up parts for my mid-pto generator project. I decided to use #50 chain in the drive. Every TSC I visit has plenty of #50 sprockets in all sizes but NO CHAIN:confused: There is a spot on the shelf for the #50 but none is ever there. Not in any of 5 and it has been this way for at least 6 months! Don't they ever restock? There is apparently no shortage of #50 chain as I found it at two other industrial places and bought it at one....
I've started calling them The Outhouse. No matter what I go for lately they are usually out.;)
