The other day, I was looking at T-stats for the YM series. The 195F and 180F were offered. My daily vehicle has a 195F and the average temp on the live OBD scan tool reads 226F. So, Winston's link to Hoye showing 220F sounds right to me.

put the finish mower on, and took a look at temp and just started to go over 190° shuther down right on the spot.
If it heats up that fast you may need to take the radiator to be rodded out. The design spec is it can run indefinitely, continuous, at full rated hp without problems. Think of powering a ditch pump or something. Obviously finish mowing isn't working it as hard as it was designed to allow before overheating.

I once bought a replacement cylinder head for a Trooper with a warranty that was valid 'only if you put in a new radiator along with this head'. Your 40 year old radiator likely isn't shedding heat as fast as it should. In fact poor cooling might be what ate the prior head gasket.

Check the pressure in the Radiator with it running. Most any big chain Auto parts will rent you one cheap. I believe anything over 16psi. Been a few Yrs. since I had to check one. Pressuring it up = HG. Crack etc..........

Thank you. I felt it might be the radiator cap holding to much pressure?
I've been running to everyday sents with no prob running 160+ a pinch. I did Ajust the valves,
Noticed a huge difference in power, 2tight 2loose.
I keep a very close eye on temp now!!
O threw reading witch I (Hate) lol found out 190°+ is normal.
