HELP!!!!

I think you should get rid of the added fuel filter in addition to draining and cleaning the fuel tank. A fresh original filter will be adequate to ensure clean fuel to the injection pump. A backyard engineered auxiliary filter may restrict fuel flow in a gravity system, adding to the problem rather than helping it.

My neighbor's 30 year old JD 820 was experiencing bog down after running a bit. It'd either go down to idle or quit. I'd replaced the fuel filters (2 on it in series) and the little automotive type stoke pump feeding the injector pump.

Other people using the tractor brought in a diesel mechanic. He showed them a screw in the side of the injector pump. It would collect crud on it. Last word is they got a new screw, and it works fine. Don't understand what the screw did on it. The crud must have been coming from something downstream of the filters and small pump.

Thanks for all the ideas I got from you!!

I changed the fuel filter one more time and drained the old fuel out. Put new fuel in with the new fuel filter and it has run like a champ!!

I appreciate this site though, you guys were wonderful with all your help and until an idler pulley broke on my finishing mower I almost got finished with that 10 acres of grass.

Again thanks for all your ideas!!
