Went back to court this morning. On the way to the court house I stopped by the post office. Got another money order for the amount of $100.00! For a grand total to date of $210.00!

Her attorney asked the judge for more time to pay restitution.. He said the neighbor is trying to sell her car to pay us off. The judge said she still owes $100.00 for court costs. Wanted to know when that would be paid in full. The neighbor said she could go to the bank and get the $100.00. The judge gave her until June 10 to pay off the court cost.

The deputy prosecutor informed the judge that the neighbor was given 180-days to pay in full the restitution, but did not fulfill her agreement with the state. The judge ignored him. Later the judge said the neighbor has until June 2016 to pay restitution in full!
Judge seemed more worried about court cost, than us getting our money!

Are judges elected in your county? They are here, and I use my experience with them to guide my voting choices...

The cynic in me thinks he wouldn't have cut her any slack if she owned money to one of his buddies...

IIRC the elected prosecutor is a lady with an attitude about small-timers sneaking below the radar when the courts are busy. Might take a bit of time to collect, but perhaps 'better late than never' if principles are upheld and due process applied.

The 'Boy Scout' in me really hopes the neighbor will chill after all this. It's said that the Lord will judge, but taught that forgiveness isn't His alone. When the poor gal is too old to scrap about little s__ she might warm up a bit, and who wouldn't be considerate of those less fortunate.

I wouldn't be marching over with a plate of cookies with $$ yet unpaid, but neither would I plan to cold-shoulder her forever if she's open to learning who can be compassionate as she ages. We can't predict who'll live the longest, anyway. tog

(flame suit on, just in case ..)

Only the better part of $3,000 to go for you. I wonder if the judge would be willing to wait a year if it was awarded to him? Please keep us posted.

SIGH ..... I'm with you on this one ... the wheels turn slowly ...

just 4 fun , ask the DA to check if she actually paid the court costs by June 10th ... if she doesn't, he should remind the "judge" and have him issue a warrant for failure to comply ....

I don't think you will ever see your 3 g's. I think the old bat will drop dead before next June. That or whe will go to the Judge with a hard luck story and the judge will give her another year to screw you around.

Best case for him if she does drop dead. He can file a claim with the estate, and get his money from the probate court.
