No matter how large your property, neighbors are still right up against your property line :(

Bruce

Yep. Had one complaining about his house being too close to my driveway. (<---yeah, I wrote that right).

Driveway has been there for over 100 + years, his house, less than 30. And it was built after he moved off the original foundation site, which was in the middle of his property.

Go figure.

We live on 40 acres.. I was raised on 10,000 acres. You still have neighbors, and one will always be a #*$ munch. Even if you own land that butts up against park land, you have a neighbor in the park service. Buy an island I guess....

Anyway, and maybe it is because of my childhood, 40 acres isn't very much. Put your house in the center and you are only 600 feet from the edges. At night, the neighbor who lights his shop like a friggin beacon in the middle of the dark woods makes the night sky less attractive. I can hear him pounding hammers, yelling at his kids and honestly I hear more gunfire in my neck of the woods in one night than I do in my entire 30 years in LA..

So far, she has paid $1,063.06:rolleyes:. Next court date is May 18.
So your getting about a dollar per post here :)

This just proves why I want to buy 50+ acres where I don't have a neighbor for half a mile or more, and build on that. wow. And I thought our neighbors coming to us about an allergy to chicken feathers after we've had chickens for 4 years was bad.
Won't work. Need 640 acres or a square mile to ensure your a half mile away.

I'm not quite sure how I would have reacted to that haha

The really irritating part is the woman accosted our 11yr old daughter at school over it (she works in the middle school library apparently), and threatened to call the town and have them taken away. Our daughter gave her our home phone number, but she never called. She couldn't even be bothered to walk 50 feet over to our house to talk to the adults in person. Or bother to say anything when I went over to till her husband's garden with my tractor and 54" tiller so he wouldn't struggle in the hot sun with his 10-12" walk behind. (The second year was after a farmer plowed it for him and the furrows were bigger than his tines.) Nope, instead she wrote a letter, paid for the stamp, walked 30 ft across the street to her mailbox, waiting for it to go to the USPS sorting center an hour and a half away, come back to our local PO, then finally do our mailbox 40-ish feet down the street. She did this in December or January if I'm remembering correctly, which of course is too cold to really do anything outside in NY. Ground's frozen so no new fence posts, and I wasn't about to risk frostbite on work that requires removing my gloves. Not when they chose to wait for the coldest month of the year to say anything. Clearly not that serious of an issue, IMO. My wife decided to write a scathing letter back, and contacted the school principal complaining about how inappropriate it was for her to threaten our child over an issue that should have been handled by the adults, especially in today's "anti-bullying" mentality. Very disappointing that the bullying came from a faculty member. Regardless, we haven't heard anything from them since.

The neighbor situation is a major reason why I love our property so much. We have become good friends the four closest households to ours. Most of them were over last weekend for our son's fifth birthday. I just tilled two of their gardens yesterday as well as prepping some ground for grass seed and I plow them all out in the winter if need be. This summer they will all pitch in to take care of our dog's for a month while we're out of the country. We all gather together for three parties every summer, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. We couldn't ask for better neighbors!
