Just a thought to all you professional / quasi-professional rescue types...does administering this clot stuff fall under the relm of administering medication ?? I don't know about other parts of the country, but in my area as a firefighter, first responder, BLS instructor, I can't legally administer a medication. I can't even give someone an aspirin when 'on duty'. Even with folks with severe allergies, I can't leaglly administer their epi-pen ( to prevent shock ) to keep their airway open. We do have ways around this ( use their hand and push their finger /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ) but unless you're a doc or under the direct control of a doc, administering a med is a no-no.
I haven't see any rulings from the state EMS department yet.
Just a thought I thought I'd share.
