Henry Lever-Action 22

Sounds, like fun... I did read where these low power rounds are recommended for handguns, a round could get stuck in the barrel?

I am far from an expert, had never heard of this type of ammo. Only read about it after I read this thread.

I had a friend get a CB round stuck in the barrel of a BL-22. He was really concerned about it. I told him to just take a cleaning rod and push it the rest of the way thru. Not a big deal, UNLESS you don稚 pay attention and send another one in behind it. Know where you are pointing your gun and where ALL the bullets are going...

P.S. The pistol is a little used Ruger single action revolver...is cylinder "blow by" normal...issue was I was holding with opposite hand near the cylinder...ouch! TMR

Gases escaping from the gaps between the cylinder and frame is normal. I've seen pictures of the tip of a guy's thumb torn off by escaping gases (IIRC it was a .454 Ruger Alaskan revolver).
You cannot hold a revolver like you hold a semi-auto. Hold the revolver with one hand around the grip (or butt, if you will) and your non-dominant hand under the grip supporting your dominant hand. Keep your hands and fingers away from the cylinder.
If that explanation isn't clear enough, go to Youtube and watch some expert revolver shooting vids. Note how they hold their guns.

BTW, I was shooting with a guy in the early 1990's. He had a .44 Magnum (probably a S&W). I was standing 8-10 feet to his side when he fired. I thought I'd gotten stung by a wasp or hornet...
Nope, it was the gases from that big bore revolver...and that was 8-10 feet away!!

Thanks Roy...glad to hear the gas escaping is normal.

The Ruger is a stainless, single actions with a medium length barrel and shoots short, long and long rifle...plus has an additional 22 magnum cylinder...think it is a "Blackhawk". Nice gun.

I learned my lesson and the off hand will be no where near the cylinder :)

It's not a Blackhawk...they aren't produced in .22. It's probably a Single-Six convertible (see the Ruger New Model Single-Six Convertible Single-Action Revolver Models.

If you don't have the manual for your revolver, Ruger will send you one (free, I think).

You are correct...Single Six 22 (convertible w/separate cylinder 22 magnum) with 6.5" barrel in stainless...hardwood grips. I remembered the Blackhawk from shopping at the time. I really like this gun.

Squirrel count now up to 5 + one chipmunk...accuracy improving :)
