Eddie, I spend time with him at least 3 times per day. I'm making him.eat from my hand so he sees I'm the food source. He eats and as his belly gets full, he starts trying to hook me and charge me. He charges the cage every time I walk by. He's bipolar, sometimes he'll just relax and I can scratch his ears and rub his belly, other times he's just plain mean. I'm afraid he may just have a bad disposition, some animals just suck. He'll get some time to come around, I'm still hopeful he will, if not we'll eat him and I'll see if I can get another one to try again. I think the biggest difference is Oscar needed a bottle and this one didn't. It seems to be the common theme I hear from people that have made this work, they had to bottle feed theirs. I may have just gotten him a week too late.

I would be calling him "pork chop" right about now.

Had a small farm in upper Ohio for a while, had horses and chickens. The kids rode the horses, fed the chickens and collected the eggs for the family. Went through several roosters, they'd either disappear or get killed by the neighbors dog but, we had one that was a bad ***. He was the cock of the walk so to speak. Ironically, he would only attack me. The wife and kids used to line up at the windows to watch him stalk me. They would all make sound effects like the Jaws movie theme. They got a big kick out of it.

Thought several times that I had killed him. One time he attacked me when I had a long handled shovel in my hands. I chased that little bastard and he kept circling me while I swung away intent on killing him. What I didn't know was the family was inside laughing their butts off. I finally nailed that sucker with the shovel. He dropped like a rock. Laid there, was sure he was dead. He was still laying there when I left for work the next morning so, I was convinced I'd be digging a hole for his remains when I got home.

But, no such luck, that SOB was infused with Zombie blood or something. He came back and was as mean as ever, if not worse. Yeah, I was still his only target. About a month later, the neighbor's Rotweiller got him we think. Don't know, don't care. Made me hate chickens. Well, at least roosters.

We hod lots of chickens and roosters when growing up. I always thought that certain breeds were more nasty than others. I recall our male peacock would kill the roosters he didn’t like.

He's still kind of a butt head to me but, the last few days I've been putting the dog in with him. It seems to be calming him down, hopefully she'll teach him to be friendly. He's coming up to the fence to see if I have treats now instead of charging it like he wants to eat me. That's progress.IMG_20180105_174045498.jpg

That's a pretty good size pen. I wonder how long the grass will last in there?

It's only temporary, he's in the backyard right now so he gets lots of interaction. If he decides he wants to stay, he'll get a permanent home of about 1/2 acre by the shop. He's already a serious rooter, I'm going to have to repair some damage. The fence is coming down as part of the addition to the house anyway and I was planning to disc, rake and resod before putting the fence back up. It needs to be smoother than it is.
