I have a HF manual log splitter that due to my stupidity I need to replace the hyd. bottle jack. This thing has two levers, one moves the shaft at a faster speed & the other is used to do the splitting. Anyone know where I may purchase the bottle jack. HF does not have them on the shelf & if you ask the assistant they don't have a clue. I only paid about $100 for this thing and believe it or not it does work pretty good. I built a gas powered one years ago and keep that one at our cabin. I bought the HF splitter to use here where I live to split smaller stuff.

Did you try ordering parts from HF as page 11 of the Manual shows all of the jack parts.

Thanks for the reply. I actually cracked the shaft that pushes against the log. I only had the ram contacting about 1/2 of it's surface on the log. It was pushing way off center of the ram. My fault completely. It still works but I don't know for how long.

I just sent an email to find out if I can order the part. We'll see what happens.

The part is probably half the cost of a new splitter

I'm thinking that also. I may try to just get a single lever bottle jack & try to adapt it. The lever with the longer stroke
is not really that much help anyways.

Here is the reply from my email to HF. It was no surprise. I often wondered about getting repair parts from HF, now I know.
Don't know why do they even put the IPL in the owners manual.

What you are describing sounds similar to the quick lift floor jacks. With no load they extend quickly until a resistance is met and then go into the slow full force lifting mode. Not sure if these can be purchased separately or the cost.

I have found quick lift bottle jacks but they do not go into the slow mode after making contact. If I could find one as you describe, that may be what I would need. I'll have to keep looking.
