HF Three Point Log Splitter

Yes, it is true that HF no longer has the splitter in their catalog. If you take the old number and search HF for it, it comes back not found. They are either changing the splitter or discontinuing it from production. Maybe too many TBNers bought them with 20% off coupons.;)

Hi, I wonder if this might be the same log splitter?
14 TON - 3 POINT HITCH LOG SPLITTER - Agri Supply

Shipping seems expensive but store price of $449.95 seems reasonable.
Still happy with my splitter, I did weld braces from the top link though to the cross bar with some 1x1 angle iron on each side.

I've been using an MTD 5hp gas powered, 20 ton splitter for over 15 years. It has good height so you don't bend over and will pivot and split vertically for heavy billots. I welded an expanded metal tray on each side to catch pieces. Only problem, the rod that is designed to protect the engine, has broken twice, just weld it back on. I would recommend this unit. I recall mine cost about $1000 new, now I think they are around $1200. worth the investment if you split as much wood as I do, one tri-ax load of logs each year.

Mike, That looks exactly like the one I bought five years ago from Northern Tool (formerly Northern Hydraulics). They no longer carry that item so it like like AgriSupply took it over but I think it is the one. I paid $479 plus tax five years ago and picked it up at the local store. I see the price is about the same but the trucking is a little spendy.

I was all excited about using my brand new HF wood splitter until I marked all the dead post oak trees by my trails. Over 100 trees are 6"-8" and don't need splitting. I'm trying to think of other uses for it before questions are asked?:D

TXDON,

I split all rounds down to about 3" to 4" in diameter. It helps them to dry faster and burn better. The 6" - 8" stuff also stacks better if it is split. The small stuff I use to start fires.

I found some black walnuts in the back 40, now I can crack them!

Jim the wood splitter would have to be modified to work for Harvey's application I would need a manually hydraulic pump attached.
