Ok, here is what baffles me about this photo... I used to be a fork lift driver right after high school. The machine I drove was about the size of the one being 'lifted'. My forklift could have easily lifted the load to the upper platform with no assistance from the other one. The larger fork lift in the picture could probably set the load even higher. These fork lift trucks may work differently than the one I used. Mine had three lift stages or frames nested inside one another. Maybe the machines in the picture just use the hydraulic rams and are limited by their travel. Oh yeh, what they are doing, it's a really dumb idea !

Well, I guess I feel the need to play devils advocate. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Not totally sure, since the picture quality is kinda grainy, but the picture looks touched up. The bottom lift has enough height range to have done the lift by itself. Also, I'm not sure the bottom lift would have the capacity to lift the the top lift. We're talking some serious weight here.

well if ya look closely ya will see that both forklifts have only single stage masts, not 3 stage masts so they wont lift very high like some forklifts will, and the bottom forklift appears to be about a 10,000lb capacity forklift, wheres the one they are lifting is more like a 3,500 lb capacity lift, so it would weigh roughly 6-7,000 lbs which is definatly in the capacity of the bigger lift truck, and the load may only be 2,000 or so. its entirely possible that it was done, i wouldnt do it but i believe it that it has been done

One wonders what the photographer did immediately after snapping the picture:

1) Run toward the group shouting "STOP, you fools!"

2) Run the other way thinking "I'm out of here. Those fools are on their own and I don't want to be a witness to the carnage."

3) Wait around to see what happened hoping for an even "better" picture.

Lets see whats behind door number 3.

Somebody is probably pretty proud of thier accomplishment.
Think they got a group award for thier inginuity?

No Darwin awards anyway..... this time around.

Well Mark, upon closer examination, (after 2 cups of coffee), and playing with photo enhancement, I have to change my opinion. It does look genuine. Either that, or some one is very talented with touchup and has alot of time on their hands. The upper lift is a single stage lift. The lower one appears to be a two stage, but that probably wouldn't be quite enough to reach.

That's what happens when you don't have your coffee in the morning /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

( but i dont think and a million years id have the testicles to do so )

I gotta SECOND that.... If my nads were that big... I'd hafta be moved around with a fork lift.. not be driving it...

This looks like a job for a small crane truck.. or for petes sake.. block and tackle...

I about LMAO when someone mentioned the third forklift...

thanks guys, I needed that one..

You always hope that most of these are someones photoshop creations.. but unfortunately as we so often see.. most are plain real..

I found the picture on a lawyer site so you can take that for what it might be worth. The outfit specilizes in transport & cargo litigation. I found it during a search for shipping containers. Lots of pics on the site mostly of container accidents and ship disasters.
