Buying Advice High hour tractor

I wouldn't be surprised to see Deere getting a higher used price and resale value than other brands. The reason is because they're built to last a long time and you get excellent support from dealers on parts. It's why you see so many older Deeres out there still in service. Seems like every time I'm in the market for a used tractor, there's no used Deere equipment I can afford, but I know they're worth a premium over other brands.

The high resale value on John Deere makes some of the other models a better value to me personally. I don't view John Deere overall superior to all the other brands based on my experience; good, yes, superior, no.

Really?? I think the Deere model comparable to my M-7040 is heavier built and offers some really sweet options not offered by Kubota. I really like the way you can raise/lower the 3 pt from the back of the tractor.

Don't get me wrong, my 7040 is a good tractor and I got it cheap, leaving me money in my bank account, but I don't deny the Deere is a heftier built machine. More steel.

Read my post again as I was very careful to say "overall" and not model for model as I accept there will be differences such as on the M7040 and others.

Again, I personally do not consider John Deere "as a whole" to manufacture equipment superior to all others. I own one and I may very well may own another, so I am not one of those brand loyalists or brand bashers.

I understand what you mean. I'm not a brand loyalist either, as some are here to Ford trucks, Deere tractors, etc. It amazes me how people will just trash the same brands literally thousands of times over & over on this site & other sites. The "My neighbors GMC blew its' engine 5 times", or the " Kubota sucks" BS.

I grew up around mechanics/farmers and such. None of them go that route either. My wife and I own two Toyotas and a GMC. We have owned Chevy, Ford, Oldsmobile, VW, Nissan also. One of my brothers is a mechanic and owns Chevy trucks, Honda cars, two Ford trucks, a Toyota truck as well as two Mazda trucks that I can think of and he has owned just about everything.

As to tractors we own three Kubotas, three Fords, one Case tractor and a Case backhoe, one John Deere and a Massey Ferguson.

I have also owned the following brands of motorcycle Honda, Bultaco, Triumph, Ossa, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and Harley.

Over the years, I have had a couple of bad machines, but that can happen with any manufacturer.

As far as raising and lowering the 3 pt. hitch from the back I can do that with my old 1985 Kubota B7100HST-E tractor. Maybe he just needs to buy an older tractor. Lol Now get in an uproar, just kidding about the older tractor. LOL Pete
