HINOMOTO E2302 DIESEL 26HP
I need some suggestions from you guys up North! I have a Hinomoto E2302 down in Southwest Florida. Normally cold temperatures are not a factor down here, however of recent the temp has dropped to the mid forties and old reliable wont start! I understand that ether is bad news! What do you guys suggest?

I am afraid you haven't provided enough information... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is this a diesel tractor?
Do you have to energize the glow plugs before starting? If so, did you do this?
Does the engine turnover?
If it's diesel, have you checked the fuel filter for gelled fuel?

I have had a few Hinomotos. One of them had burnt out glow plugs when I got it. The glow plug light came on automatically and all seemed right but the tractor would not start. Once I determined the glow plugs were bad, by pulling and testing them, I replaced them. They lasted one day before the new ones were burnt out again. The ignition switch was bad and was sending current to the plugs after the glow plug light would go out. Once more I replaced the glow plugs and also replaced the ignition switch. Everything worked great after that.

Mike,
You are correct...I guess it would help if I put down all of the info! Anyway The tractor is a Hinomoto E2302 3cyl, 26hp, Diesel. It runs like a bandit and during warm weather, starts instantly! However since the temperature has dropped to the middle forties in the morning the rascal will not start! Now if it warms up during the afternoon to say the low seventies....once again it starts right away! Do changes in tempoerature like this normally effect a diesel tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks for your reply!

Brent,

If the tractor runs fine in warmer weather does that mean that the glow plugs are okay? Maybe it is the cool temperatures causing the problem or could the plugs be good enough for warm weather but just bad enough that the cool weather effects them? As you can tell a diesel mechanic I am not! However learning very quickly!
Thanks for your help!

The first thing I'd check are the glow plugs.

On my Hinomotos I always used to start them with the glow plugs unless it was really hot the engine was still warm from being ran. Mine would start with a layer of ice on the hood of the tractor. I might have to cycle the glow plugs a couple of times but they would start. I think you should check the glow plugs. If I remember correctly you need a deep well 10mm socket. Get ready for sticker shock. The glow plugs can run as high as $50 each.

FYI, I crossed the plugs in a 2304 to NGK 6825---$11 or $12.
It might help next time. I didn't have as good luck with the Iseki they were OEM $55 each.

my neighbors hino e2004 won't start too hot eather.. i'd check the plugs too but his were ok they seem not to want to crank apparently. If all else fails u can use wd-40 in intake or hair dryer these are old VW diesel tricks. 40 degrees should start right up IDI diesels aren't generaly hard to start in winter time.

I bought my Iseki glow plugs for $10 each for the TS1610F. With the Isuzu engine model number, I might be able to cross reference some other Iseki plugs.
