Mowing Hit a tow truck chain while mowing with BX22

I can't believe it. I was cutting the grass yesterday morning when all of the sudden I heard CLANG BANG BOOM!!! The tractor shut off and I got off to inspect. I found that I had finally found the tow truck chain I'd lost while pulling a friend out of a mudhole with my Jeep. I was using the 60" MMM when I hit it. I unlooped the chain (it went around the middle spindle) and started up the MMM to see what the end result was. There was a slight wobble so I put the BX22 up on jacks to see what damage I caused. Looks like I chipped all 3 blades real good. I dopped the tractor off yesterday to get the 50 hr service and have them replace the blades and inspect the spindles. What a mess......

I can imagine./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif So far, I've never found a chain that way; a little barbed wire, a little rope, a little hay baling twine, a couple of my best garden hoses, a couple of steel fence posts/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif, but never a chain./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Hitting the cahin might be cheaper than mowing over a puny bit of hay baling twine on my ride-on mower.

It wound around the spindle and melted on due to the friction. I ended up having to have the spindle repaired due to the "new" plastic moulding on it !!

A few years ago I found the neighbor's missing snow chain with my Craftsman 26" snow blower. I got to take it all apart and replace many many parts.

It realy doesn't matter what make or model you have some think like any of the above will mess you your deck!

I find hoses to be extremely good targets. I use about 1000 feet of soakers and they chew up real nice with my Land Pride!
I also have several logging chains. I sure hope I never hot one of them! Nightmare time!
