Guess it is a character flaw I have... I am very good being an advocate for others... not so much for myself.

Sometimes accidents are just accidents.

Spending the last 23 years in a hospital working has opened my eyes to just how many low-life scammers there really are when money is involved... some are just looking for a payday.

Always figured what comes around goes around...

ultra... I applaud you and your philosophy and glad to hear you are getting well. While I understand what some others are saying about reporting and covering yourself... your actions based on how you saw it all happen is refreshing. Quite the opposite of the person who gets bumped from behind and a week later based on input from 'friends' complains of whiplash and neck pain and cashes in. This is part of the problem with our system these days.

You still need to get it looked at just to document any injuries that may pop up down the road from this. Doesn't mean you have to sue the guy. You just need to get it documented for your own protection.

Ultra, make sure that the doctors write up ALL of the symptoms and were you were hit. Years after we were hit in a car accident we are still fighting the person's insurance company. The other driver danged near killed me by accelerating through an intersection. The wife was hurt pretty bad but all of the symptoms were not written down and it took two surgeries and years of health care to sorta fix the problem but because one symptom was not written down the ER doc we have been in a fight with the other insurance company for the last year or two.

I would not have known to CHECK what the doc's had written down. We did go to the ER and the doctors to DOCUMENT the accident but by the time we go the records it was too late....

Hopefully, you have no real injuries and this is a moot point.

Hey Curt, so glad you're alright and it didn't end up a lot worse. I was hit by a moving van when I was in High School because I forgot to look left and I shot out right in front of him. Totally my fault. I flew in the air and landed on the road about twenty feet way, then rolled for another dozen feet. No permanent damage, just very sore and bruised up. It got worse every day for a week!!!!

When you get hit enough to fly through the air, you're lucky if there's no serious injury. One Saturday in the Spring of 1986, I was downtown in Washington, DC, on a motorcycle when I saw a couple jogging on the sidewalk, and they went into a crosswalk just as a Mercedes sedan going the same direction as that couple made a fast right turn. The guy avoided the car, but it hit that woman, she went flying through the air, and landed in the street. Her companion immediately ran to her, grabbed her, and yanked her up onto her feet without even slowing down to think about whether she might be injured. Apparently there was a marked police sedan right behind me and the officer obviously saw what happened and quickly pulled into the intersection with his emergency lights on. I was just about to get off my motorcycle to see if I could help, but when I saw the officer, I went on.

Every day I'm doing better... the only ongoing problem is from when my left foot rolled...

Doc said it will take time to heal.

I've been banged up far worse when I toppled from a ladder... took months for every ache and pain to go away.

I am surprised no follow up from the motorist...

Today is the first day in 15 weeks I have not had to go into work... the construction project has been 7 days a week with some odd hours... like working to midnight, go home and come back at 3 am...

You should've called the police. He violated the law by not reporting an accident especially with injuries. You should go to the Station for where it happened and report it now. We had a saying, if it isn't reported, it didn't happen. He should also have been ticketed.

Buggs67 is right. I'm not sure of the laws in your state but here you must report any accident with injuries. The driver has committed a felony by not reporting the accident.

Glad your injuries were not that bad. There has to be open season on pedestrians in some cities. I have been in some city's lately that have signs placed on the center line, stating pedestrians have the right of way when in crosswalks.

The first one I saw, I thought it was just for that locale, then I saw more of the signs.

San Francisco has had a lot of pedestrian/auto injuries and even fatalities... don't get to the city much... maybe not even once a year even though I'm about 20 minutes away.

It's been exactly a week now and today is the first day I didn't take anything for pain... pretty well back to normal which is Great!
